Our industry-leading, trendsetting edge-to-core solutions provide the foundation for many of the world’s largest and most demanding networks that generate billions in service revenue for our customers.Job Title: Senior Assembly Process EngineerSunnyvale, CADescriptionDevelop, sustain, and improve die attach, inspection tools and/or process steps in the assembly of monolithically integrated optical circuits in 24x7 manufacturing and development facility. Focus on both process and tool ownership, process and equipment performance (MTBA, MTBF) improvement of die/component attach, unit process step ownership and improvement, area sustaining, product operations, and new product introduction.Responsible for offshore Assembly Contract Manufacturing (CM) of Optical bench component-attach and assembly. Ensure that on-time and on-capacity targets are met for existing products and work closely with CM’s on new product evaluation and qualification.Responsibilities includeOwnership of Eutectic Die-Attach assembly area and processes for all products from feasibility stage to volume production.Peer-lead and develop expertise in specific assembly process modules as well as across the manufacturing process flowOrganize, analyze, and improve manufacturing processes to meet key performance indicators including efficiency, cycle time, yield, and reliability.Identify and reduce components of variability by conducting controlled experiments, analyzing, summarizing, and presenting resultsWork in a team environment consisting of engineers, technicians and operatorsCreate written operational procedures and mentor/train operatorsResponsible for New Tool selection , procurement , install, and qualify new toolsWork with development and other functional teams to define the assembly requirements for new product introductionIdentify, develop, and qualify new assembly processes and technologies to enable and support next generation product needs.Take ownership of Optics Bench(OB) Offshore Contract Manufacturers(CM) to ensure that product specifications are well defined and CM has the capacity and capability  to deliver highly manufacturable OBs with the required component-attach and assembly.Support CM requirements and define deliverables to ensure that on-time and on-capacity targets are met for existing products.Monitor and resolve assembly technical/quality issues for CMs.Represent Assembly Engineering in various multi-functional teamsWork in a clean room environment and follow strict clean room requirementsMust be available for 24/7 factory on-callSkills / Experience / KnowledgeStrong hands-on background in assembly technologies and processes for microelectronics manufacturingHands-on operation and maintenance of assembly process tools and metrology equipmentTechnical expertise and ownership in die attach via solder or epoxy bonding on Micron2/Datacon EVO tool platform.Wafer fab or Assembly shop floor control systemsProcess engineering statistics background (SPC, DOE)Experience with Failure AnalysisMaterial and Tool selectionsPlasma cleaning equipment and processTroubleshooting and resolving equipment problemsHands-on data analysis with JMP, MATLAB, or similar packagesExperience in mentorship and training of operators, engineering technicians, and junior engineersAbility to work closely and coordinate activities with other functional groupsGood communication and project management skillsSafety and quality oriented mindsetEducationBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials Engineering, or related field, plus 8 years of related experience, or Master’s Degree with 5 years of experience in semiconductor packaging & assembly technology in a manufacturing environment.#LI-SR2Infinera is an equal opportunity employer.
