Autodesk is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the ESE Observability team.As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing best practices and making architectural choices to improve the Distributed Tracing Pipelines. You will collaborate with highly motivated and wonderful software engineers in multiple areas within Observability and other Engineering teams.We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working in a team, can own and deliver long-term projects to completion. You are detail and quality oriented, and excited about the prospects of having a big impact within Observability at Autodesk.ResponsibilitiesWork closely with development teams to ensure that platforms are designed with Observability in mindGain deep knowledge of both our complex internally developed applications and enterprise-class servicesFamiliar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within Software Engineering and AWSWork to support teams with adding OTEL attributes and configurations utilizing OpenSource OTEL documentationProduce high-quality dashboards and streams to showcase primary service flows with distributed tracingSupport teams onboarding into our distributed tracing platform, Lightstep.Ability to query on traces to find application issuesComfortable reviewing code, championing issues, and shaping project roadmaps and backlogsContinuously look for opportunities to automate changes and implement themImplement and improve monitoring and alertingBuild, automate, and improve observability dashboards to provide better visibility in the operational aspects of the systemsFunction well in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment.Minimum QualificationsB.S. or higher in Computer Science or other technical discipline, or related practical experienceMonitoring/Logging tools techniques and configurationOpen Telemetry experience with code level instrumentationDevelopment Languages: Java, Python, and/or Node JSExcellent written and verbal communication skills3+ years of experience in AWSPreferred Qualifications5+ Years of hands on experience with multiples of these example technologies:EC2, ElastiCache, Cloud Front, Auto Scaling, Containers, API gatewaysNetworking: Load balancers (ALB/ELB), SSL/TLS, DNS, FirewallAWS Certification or AWS Experience w/ Lambda, ECS, and Fargate.Observability Tool Experience(APM)Experience with AWS X-Ray or other similar tools.Monitoring: Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, Data Dog, LogicMonitorScripting languages: Python, PowerShell, Bash; specifically for systems automationStrong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment with other SREs, Engineers, Operators, Product Managers, etc.Problem solver with excellent written and interpersonal skills; ability to make sound, complex recommendations in a fast-paced, technical environmentHumble, collaborative, team player, willing to step up and support your colleaguesEffective communication, problem solving and interpersonal skillsCommit to grow deeper in the knowledge and understanding of how to improve our existing applicationsEnthusiasm for cutting edge technologies, complex problems, and building thingsGood command of English (Speaking, Writing and Reading)#LI-POSTAt Autodesk, we're building a diverse workplace and an inclusive culture to give more people the chance to imagine, design, and make a better world.
