Job Requisition ID #23WD68564Position OverviewAs a key member of Autodesk’s Legal Department, this role will be the lead lawyer responsible to support Autodesk with overall responsibility for legal matters in Japan. This includes general legal support such as employment matters, commercial transactions, disputes and litigation, compliance and trainings and support for Japan. By collaborating across teams within a matrixed environment, involving subject-matter experts as needed, this role will promote compliance and ensure transparency, timely decisions, and balanced risk management.ResponsibilitiesExperienced manager in leading a team of legal professionals in Japan and/or the region. Is the lead lawyer advising on all legal matters in Japan, providing legal support to internal stakeholders from Sales, HR, Procurement, Facilities, Finance, Tax functions, etcProvides legal support for License compliance related activities in Japan, including managing outside counsels and Business Software Alliance (BSA) matters. Also expected to engage with BSA and keep abreast of policy changesAdvises on policies and procedures, Japan regulatory matters as well as data use and data privacy matters, working with subject-matter experts in these areasIn collaboration with Autodesk’s Compliance and Litigation Group, to observe gaps within the teams, develop relevant training materials and present trainings to sales staff; implements annual training plan for internal stakeholdersProvides all transactional support for non-standard sales situations in any commercial transactionsIdentifies finance, operational or revenue accounting issues and liaises with the relevant functional groups (including Tax, Finance, Revenue Accounting, Global Sales and Success Operations) to resolve these issuesIdentifies and manages actual and potential disputes and litigation in collaboration with Autodesk’s Compliance and Litigation GroupProvides employment legal support to our HR teams in Japan, including employment policies and contentious mattersReports into the Head of Legal for APAC (based in Singapore) and may be involved in regional legal matters or projects when assignedMinimum QualificationsLaw degree in Japan or U.S or a commonwealth jurisdictionQualification to practice law in Japan or a U.S. or commonwealth jurisdiction with at least 10 years post-qualification experience, preferably in the IT industry and familiarity with being the sole counsel for US headquartered software companiesStrong experience in supporting direct and indirect sales to government entities, responding to RFPs, RFIs and knowledge in handling risks in public sector transactionsIn-depth practical experience in, and comfortable advising on employment matters in-houseFamiliarity with privacy and software licensing issuesAbility to communicate clearly and concisely; both written and oral and strong interpersonal skillsDemonstrated experience working independently and managing multiple projects at once to meet deadlinesCollaborates well in cross-functional, global diverse teams dealing with matrixed issuesProvide sound and practical legal solutions in a fast paced work environment to be the pre-eminent Legal Business Partner A driven lawyer who is curious in his/her learnings with initiative and ability to collaborate across functions#LI-POSTAt Autodesk, we're building a diverse workplace and an inclusive culture to give more people the chance to imagine, design, and make a better world.
