Job Requisition ID #23WD69495Position OverviewA User Experience Design (XD) Manager at Autodesk is a leader, a systems thinker, a person confident in their design point of view, a considerate collaborator, a user advocate, and somebody who is willing and excited to take initiative. The User Experience Design (XD) Manager will lead a multi-discipline Experience Design team, partner with Product Manager, Product Owners, Software Architects, and other job functions in Agile teams to provide best-in-class experiences servicing our Building and Infrastructure users.You will work as part of the User Experience Team working with cross-disciplinary agile teams building capabilities to enable Engineers to solve some of the most complex problems of the world by helping them design, analyze, model, fabricate, and eventually build the structural systems that support roads and highways, rail, bridges and tunnels, and water systems of the future. This position focuses on designing workflows and interactions and relies on frequent interaction with our users to understand how they are working and how they feel about our in-progress solutions.This position is in Krakow, Poland.Our TeamThe Building and Infrastructure Design Experience and Analytics team is a worldwide design team supporting capabilities and software with more than 2 million monthly active users. Our tools and services are critical to our user day-to-day work, their effectiveness, and their business goals. Our design team members work to make sure we deeply understand our users’ needs and workflows to create experiences that drive business by helping users achieve their goals.How You’ll Spend Your DaysSet and own the UX strategy by developing strategic plans for the team, helping connect the user experience to the design system, corporate brand, and strategic goals.Lead and mentor direct reports, make hiring decisions for the team, and help individuals improve by providing feedback on research and design work.Build and maintain team values and a positive team culture.Onboard and support new hires to be successful.Work with you peer managers and cross-functional leaders to allocate the resources necessary for the XD team to complete their work.Speak regularly with other teams and leadership about progress, upcoming work and any work requests assigned to the team.Understand user perspectives by actively listening, observing, communicating, and limiting assumptions.Lead by example by demonstrating the same empathy for internal teams as you do for our users.Prioritize work and allocate User Experience Design resources while ensuring deadlines are met and manageable.Determine availability and suitability of internal versus external staff resources.Lead internal design thinking and visioning workshops to help the team translate user insights into product direction.Illustrate drive for ease of use and simplicity despite complexity of software applications.Inspire and motivate the team to encourage them to continuously improve and explore new solutions.Work with other design teams to align and contribute to the Autodesk Design System.Generate, communicate, and evangelize insights, designs and visions to project teams and senior leadership.Be an expert on all aspects of user experience design and research including information architecture, prototyping, research, testing, visual design, and wireframing.Demonstrate curiosity by expanding your knowledge on user experience design and industry trends.Proactively spot and fix design issues and continuously iterate on solutions.Minimum Qualifications3-5 years of experience doing UX/XD, HCI, or interaction design.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders, Product Manager, Product Owners, Software Architects, Development Teams, and fellow User Experience Designers to deliver usable and desired value to users.Demonstrated ability in managing progress, relationships, and growth within the User Experience Design Team.Demonstrated examples in leading cross-functional teams in problem definition and analysis, understanding user workflows, and creating prototypes that solve complex user problems.Fluent English language skills. Can work with US stakeholders and users.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree or above in interaction design, or related field.Hiring expertise to interview, hire and grow the team.Knowledge of creating cloud-based service experiences, including resiliency best practices.Knowledge of Architecture, Construction, and Engineering workflows, particularly those related to Civil Engineering.Knowledge of Autodesk software or equivalent competitive software.Experience with Agile/Lean software design and development practices.At Autodesk, we're building a diverse workplace and an inclusive culture to give more people the chance to imagine, design, and make a better world.
