This position is an engineering and career mentorship role.Primary Responsibilities Engineering & Analysis: (60%)Deplore repeated manual work and pursue pervasive automationAdvance the ongoing adoption of infrastructure as code (IaC) and network automationImplement zero-touch provisioning, desired state configuration, and build pipelines for network managementIntegrate multiple systems to implement automated workflows, configuration changes, and data updatesModel network configuration and operational data in a platform neutral structure (e.g. JSON or YAML)Design and implement advanced configurations of network gear including switches, routers, firewallsEstablish advanced automation processes to monitor and maintain systemsGrow and promote an automation first mentality in the teamParticipate in peer review processes by reviewing procedures, changes, architectures, designs and standardsPrepare documentation and improve team policies and proceduresAs a mentor, review engineer work product and procedures to support skill developmentProvide advanced troubleshooting as neededProduction support: (40%)Perform troubleshooting and triage assessment - remediating, delegating, or raising problems as neededDiagnose, debug, and repair automation processes and toolsIndependently address advanced operational issuesCommunicate with impacted users through-out the troubleshooting/remediation process as neededLead documentation of new deployments or changes to deployments according to documentation standardsParticipate in on-call rotationBe the network automation domain authority in project meetingsProactively ensure ongoing communication with participants, customers and team membersResponsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.Performs other related duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Automation coding skills, with a preference for Python and NETCONF experienceExperience using and implementing Azure DevOps repos and CI/CD pipelinesExperience using Ansible and Ansible Tower for network automationExperience with Windows and Linux OSExperience with DevOps and agile methodsNetwork equipment vendor experience with F5, Cisco, and Palo Alto preferredTerraform experience preferredUnderstanding of highly available network solutionsUnderstanding of the OSI networking modelExperience configuring and diagnosing IP routing/switching technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, and OSPF in a dual-stack IPv4/6 environment.Experience with commercial cloud provider environments and hybrid cloud connectivityAbility to excel in a multifaceted environmentEffectively communicate problems and solutionsUnderstand business problems and networking solutionsEffective time management and ability to coordinate and prioritize tasksExcellent English language written & verbal communications, both technical and non-technicalQualificationsBA/BS in any computer science, or commensurate career experience requiredCurrent certifications in networking technology any current manufacturer of networking equipment5 or more years in an IT department with a dedicated network teamNo less than 4 years in a network operations center or network team#LI-OR1The Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job.
