They value diversity, are inclusive and are committed to a global mindset.Position Summary: The Financial Accountant position reports to Manager, Accounting & Finance and is responsible for managing GL activities related to the EMEA financials, along with ensuring local statutory compliance. The role will be UK and European countries centric with opportunity to work with internal and external auditors and outsourced accountants.Attractions of the Job: F5 is a growing publicly traded company (Nasdaq FFIV). This position will have the opportunity to mentor staff and create or update processes, procedures and systems to scale with the company’s growth.Primary Responsibilities: Oversee Daily Activities and Close Process:• Support the monthly, quarterly and annual EMEA financial close process, primarily for the UK company, related branches, EMEA entities including overseeing the reporting and compliance.• Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations and perform the final review and analysis for the UK trial balance, balance sheet and income statement to ensure that all material activity has been captured and recorded accurately and on time.• Collaborate with the Finance team on ensuring correct costs are captured and providing explanations for budget to actual variances.• Monthly flux analysis for UK entity, commenting on month-on-month movement. Extends to quarterly and annual analysis on specific months.• Prepare the UK annual statutory accounts under IFRS and related branches statutory accounts, including coordinating the preparation and review with the UK and Corporate accounting and Tax teams.• Assist with co-ordination of the UK statutory audit and support the co-ordination of branch statutory audits.• Collaborate with external professional service providers.• Collaborate with Corporate tax team and external tax advisors regarding the annual UK tax return, including supporting the preparation of the tax pack and coordinating the review and finalization.• Assist in preparation of the quarterly UK and related branches UAE and Norway VAT returns, along with supporting VAT related projects.• Evaluate current policies and procedures and work with the Accounting Team, SOX and Finance to determine if they are still appropriate given F5’s growth and the way the business currently operates. Suggest and implement changes as appropriate to improve accuracy and efficiency. Create and/or update related process flow documents.• Support Manager, Accounting & Finance with technical accounting projects and accounting areas, such as lease accounting and financial instruments.• Support the process for SAO (Senior Accounting Officer) for Corporate Income Tax, VAT and Customs, including maintaining existing controls and process narratives and ensuring correct compliance.• Review reporting packs from outsourced accountants for European countries. Liaise with external accountants on reporting requirements.• Monthly flux analysis on European subsidiaries, commenting on month-on-month movement. Extends to quarterly and annual analysis on specific months.• Coordinate external audits for European subsidiaries, working closely with the audit firm on deliverables.• Collaborate with auditors for European subsidiary audits and tax returns.• Collaborate with Corporate tax team and external tax advisors regarding the annual European entity tax return, including supporting the preparation of the tax pack and coordinating the review and finalization.• Assist with 13th directive foreign VAT claims for UK entity – Spanish and Danish VAT.Job DescriptionGeneral Ledger:• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger chart of accounts structure. Work with manager and peers to update and maintain account coding guidance provided to Finance, Purchasing, AP, Tax and F5 Subsidiaries to improve consistency of use and better visibility into financial results.Corporate Projects:• Assist with Corporate initiatives to streamline and improve efficiencies within the Accounting function. Works on special projects as assigned by the management.Other Responsibilities:• Occasionally provide technical accounting guidance to junior members within the Accounting team.• Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.• Performs other related duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and other European GAAPs and financial reporting.• Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with accounting team and to document work for management and auditors.• Flexible and open to new ideas and is proactive about suggesting and implementing process improvements.• Eager to learn, research open items and take on new tasks.• Excellent project and time management, problem-solving, interpersonal and analytical skills and ability to work in a team environment.• Ability to make sound judgments or solve problems independently, knowing when to bring situations to the attention of management.• Confidential, discrete and professional.Qualifications:• Accounting Qualification ACA, ACCA, CIMA 3-5 years post qualification• Experience with Oracle or other large ERP system advantageous• Intermediate MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and VisioPhysical Demands and Work Environment: • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
