Chief Accounting Officer

The Chief Accounting Officer (“CAO”) is responsible for the oversight of all global accounting and finance operations, while achieving strong internal controls and meeting all applicable compliance requirements for a fast-growing SaaS company. The CAO will be primarily responsible for establishing and managingaccounting and finance workflows to include financial reporting; general ledger accounting (month-end close); revenue operations (including project accounting, revenue recognition, invoicing and collecting client payments); payroll, tax, equity administration and procurement. In addition, the CAO will manage,build, and mentor a global team. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.Key Responsibilities:Recruit, manage, oversee, mentor, and develop a best-in-class accounting department of approximately 50 employeesSet standards of excellence and make improvements to processes, efficiencies, technology, and talent managementBe a leader who is driven to build high performing teams, contributing to a positive and empathetic culture which values team members, providing support and mentorship along the wayEnsure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported timely and in accordance with accounting policies on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Includes quality control over financial transactions and financial reportingEnsure compliance with all GAAP and other applicable laws, rules, and financial regulations for financial, partnership and tax reporting, particularly SaaS and software revenue accounting rules under ASC606Oversee and direct reporting requirements including GAAP financial statementsPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsWork closely with FP&A to proactively identify and monitor significant business trends and variances to plan in revenue, expenses, headcount, capital, balance sheet and cash flow items.Review SOX risk control matrices on a periodic basis for each of the significant financial processesBuild strong relationships with business partners, auditors, executive staff, and the Board of Directors (BOD)Advises management of potential changes in accounting regulations or practices which may impact operations and reportingMonitor emerging US GAAP, IFRS and SEC developments, including participation in outreach with industry peersPreparation of ad-hoc special requests for managementKey Characteristics:Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct a worldwide cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teamsSharp, forward-thinking problem solver with high standards of excellence and comfort with driving changeAbility to work successfully in a fast-paced environment and develop a deep understanding of the businessExcellent technical accounting and financial and analytical abilities, including strong knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 606 and IFRSAbility to cross-collaborate with various departments within the organizationSuccinct in both verbal and written communicationsPositive, can-do mindsetRequirements:15+ years of progressive corporate accounting and controllership experience, with a minimum of 10 years of relative management/leadership experienceBachelor's degree in finance or Accounting or other quantitative field; advanced degree (MBA, etc.) a plus; relevant industry certifications such as CPA requiredPrior tenure in a senior level position in a fast-growing SaaS/Enterprise software companyThorough knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and procedures including experience with GAAP technical accounting research and new accounting standard implementationStrong technical understanding of SaaS and software revenue accounting requirementsFamiliarity with IFRS accounting principles and proceduresExperience in internal control design and financial process optimizationExperience with acquisition and integration workExperience in system and process upgrades and enhancementsA demonstrated history of solving multiple and complex challenges through critical thinking and requiring cross-functional collaborationA proven record track record of innovation, leadership, teamwork, and creativity#LI-KJ1SailPoint is an equal opportunity employer and we welcome everyone to our team.  All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
