Will be responsible for supplier negotiation, discussions, selection, make or buy analysis and decision making and keep a pulse on the market landscape supporting on market and NPI programs. Additionally, this position will be responsible of facilitating all communications, both internally and externally, regarding supplier pricing, contracts and commercial relationship status.This position will regularly work across functions and at all levels within the Organization. Must have strong negotiation skills and be focused on delivering savings, efficiency and de-risking of the end-to-end supply chain.Responsibilities: Develop, plan, organize and implements Global Contracting and Sourcing Strategies and programs to increase operational efficiency and profitabilityUnderstand key supply markets and use this knowledge and experience to lead and execute the sourcing process to deliver best valueDeploy specific procurement process knowledge and expertise to lead the analysis of supplier proposals (using appropriate tools and technology) to ensure best value for spend allocation decisions that are made regarding supplier selection and contract awardLead negotiation of commercial and contractual terms (with appropriate legal support) with suppliers to ensure that commercial and contractual risk is managed appropriatelyBuild strong relationships with Strategic Suppliers, driving early supplier engagement into Illumina’s Strategic Procurement Business System (SPBS), and long-term partnership for wing-to-wing product lifecycleInfluence and manage key, strategic supplier relationships to ensure that supplier performance and value is maintained and delivered throughout the contract lifecycleIdentify and deliver direct spend savings to realize the performance objectives of the businessDelivers management information, reporting, insight and analytics on supplier cost and performanceProvide guidance and contribution on policy and process continuous improvement of the procurement functionAct as an interface between the supplier base and the NPI sourcing and Engineering teams at IlluminaResolves and/or direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business challengesRequirements: Strength in negotiating and executing commercial contractsStrong business acumen and capacity to understand complex market dynamicsAbility to learn enough of a complex industry and products to interact with highly technical experts, commercially knowledgeable stakeholders and lead discussions and negotiations to closeAbility to partner, support and be included and influence business decisionsExcellent communication skills and ability to interact and partner with all levels of the organizationAbility to energize, develop and build rapport at all levels within the organizationStrong quantitative and analytical skills with a strong focus on data-driven decision makingExcellent program/project management experience with the ability to develop and lead the execution of integrated program plansProficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point).All listed requirements are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.Experience/Education:Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry or biology, MBA desiredSignificant and demonstrable 10+ years’ experience in Global Sourcing in a complex procurement and supply chain environment with, at least, 5 years in Global Pharma, Biotech and Life Sciences industryCross-functional experience and experience working across cultures, teams, and time zones with ability to handle multiple tasks in compressed timeframesProven project management skills with ability to handle multiple tasks and deliver results on timeLean/Six Sigma Certification desiredSourcing experience within life sciences CMOs and Beads is highly desirable#LI-HYBRIDThe estimated base salary range for the Sr Staff - Strategic Sourcing (CMOs and Beads) role based in the United States of America is: $124,300 - $186,500. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
