Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Position Summary:The Staff Analyst, Global Trade Compliance (GTC) based in Bangalore, India will be an important team member supporting Illumina’s compliance with import and export regulations in the Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) region. This role requires export/import operational skills to facilitate customs entry into Illumina’s APJ facilities including Singapore, Japan, Korea, India and Australia. The successful candidate will also play a strategic role by working with cross functional teams to drive the development and implementation of business and GTC programs. This position will also assist in training and developing junior team members in the Trade Compliance team.This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic GTC team that is supporting the Company’s business growth in APJ and its vision to transform human health.Position Responsibilities:• Act as a subject matter expert and support day-to-day export and import operational transactions in the APJ region. Work with Illumina’s customs brokers in the APJ region for timely and accurate customs clearances. Operate GTS system for shipment holds release, license management and export control, etc.• Work with local government agencies to resolve import and export holds such as customs valuation, HS code challenge, etc. When requested represent Illumina in meetings with local government agencies.• Proactively identify potential import and export problems and work for corrective actions.• Work with scientists and engineers to ensure that technology, instruments, consumables, and software products are classified properly for export (ECCN) and import (HTS).• Participate in trade compliance training for internal and external partners.• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve customs issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase compliance with global trade regulations.• Manage Customs brokers performance through post clearance audit and QBR• Support FTWZ and High Sea Sales operation in India to ensure timely clearance of shipments• Train and develop junior team members in the Trade Compliance team.• Other duties as assignedAll listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.Position Requirements• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Logistics, Trade Compliance, Business Administration or other related field.• 8+ years import / export experience with focus on trade compliance and logistics• Strong working knowledge of India customs regulations and customs clearance operations.• Knowledge of other APJ import regulations is a plus, but not required.• Working knowledge of India and US Export Control• Working knowledge of HTS code classification• Experience in life science or medical device industry considered a plus.• Experience with a Global Trade Management Solution, preferably SAP GTS.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, judgement, creativity, flexibility.• Ability to be influential and credible with Sales, Tax, Finance, Customer Support, Purchasing Distribution, Logistics and Supply Chain staff, and other internal stakeholders.• Detail oriented and highly organized; ability to multi-task several tasks/projects at once.• Ability to adapt to rapid change, work with a sense of urgency, and effective time management.• Willing to travel domestically and internationally as requiredAll listed requirements are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:• Experience in life science or medical device industry considered a plus.Illumina believes that everyone has the ability to make an impact, and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to providing employment opportunity regardless of sex, race, creed, color, gender, religion, marital status, domestic partner status, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, pregnancy, military or veteran status, citizenship status, and genetic informationIllumina believes that everyone has the ability to make an impact, and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to providing employment opportunity regardless of sex, race, creed, color, gender, religion, marital status, domestic partner status, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, pregnancy, military or veteran status, citizenship status, and genetic information.
