If you want a brilliant, fast-paced, mission-driven environment then Illumina is the place for you.Responsibilities will includeDevelop and implement a Government Affairs strategy for Illumina in Brussels in close collaboration with the Vice President, EU Government Affairs.Maintain effective monitoring and analysis of major EU policy/legislative developments and initiatives relevant to Illumina and regularly communicate key updates to senior leaders.Ideate strategies and shape stakeholder coalitions at the EU level with a view to broadening the understanding of and support for genomics, particularly in the context of improving routine healthcare, advancing biosecurity, and supporting the development of large-scale population genomics programs.Ensure effective representation of Illumina in key industry associationsEstablish and maintain a ready communication channel for senior Illumina executives with senior stakeholders in the relevant institutions and facilitate such meetings for visiting executives.Develop and maintain relationships with academia, industry experts and research institutions relevant to EU policy development and institutions.Coordinate closely with key internal stakeholders across the broader Illumina public affairs organization on key EU policy initiatives.Preferred background, skills and experienceA record of successful public affairs engagements in Brussels on high profile legal, regulatory and public affairs initiatives. Clear evidence of programmatically building a company’s relationships across EU institutions and the political spectrum, working with a company’s executives and experts to support multiple engagements. Demonstrated ability to plan and execute company engagements at large-scale events.Experience in the EU institutions or a major government affairs team is a strong positive.Must have experience in life sciences/health policy.Must have strong strategic acumen but be pragmatic in execution.Experience coordinating internal teams across organizational boundaries and managing external public affairs consultants.Evidence of being highly team oriented, collaborative and adept at developing trusting relationships with stakeholders; must be able to influence senior executives and focus on helping to educate the broader Illumina organization.
