This is a technical application administration role responsible for daily administration of Illumina’s MES platforms and their respective integrations. A portion of this role’s focus will be allocated to projects including upgrades, integrations, and net new functionality delivered via application configuration and project promotions.This individual will work closely with application business analysts, developers, and end-users to ensure MES platform systems meet Illumina’s Quality Standards and industry best practices. The IT Engineer is responsible for the MES platforms technical and ongoing management. MES platform expertise will be critical to the installation and ongoing sustainment of the MES platform systems and their respective SLAs.The candidate should be proficient in researching issues with the team to make recommendations for both operational improvements and resolving technical problems.Position Responsibilities: Install and maintain the integrity of the MES platform application environments (production and non-production) in a high availability manufacturing landscapeIntroduce technical changes into the environment using a structured approach that minimizes risk and achieves high reliability, availability, and performanceInstall and configure MES platform application servers and databases and/or liaison with responsible technical resourcesDistribute the online MES platform user workload as well as monitor and manage the MES platform background jobs and workloadsMaintain the MES Platform performance by planning and executing MES platform tuning strategiesMonitor MES platform systems (work processes, users, system logs, short dumps, locks, developer traces, system traces, disk space, etc.)Participate in the planning and implementation of MES Platform system upgrades and enhancementsDevelop and maintain system documentation for the MES platform and its interfacesProvide status reports to management on a regular cadenceHandle P1/P2/P3/P4 priority GIS service tickets for systems in support of system uptimeAbility to perform and document root cause analysis for system issues and maintain a centralized knowledge baseAbility to learn and comprehend functional requirements of various MES applications in the landscapeManage and document user permissions to various MES applications and grant access MES applications end usersRequest, configure and rotate SSL certs and KONG APIAttend daily core team meetings to discuss current issue and manage workloadOn-call coverage on a rotating basisListed responsibilities are an essential, but not exhaustive list, of the usual duties associated with the position.
