The foundation of all activities for this role is a wide, solid grasp of multiple areas of engineering and science technologies, and the ability to climb new learning curves quickly. Your day-to-day environment will change from designing a test fixture in CAD to integrating a complex setup in the lab to developing analytical tools for data analysis.Primary responsibilities include mapping complex use cases, development of system models/budgets, contributing to system & sub-system architecture designs, and developing test strategies for critical parameter, reliability, and verification testing. The candidate should possess strong optomechanical design, organizational and communication skills to facilitate successful product development across hardware, consumables, firmware, software, and chemistry teams.Responsibilities:Develop plans, procedures and execute engineering verification for instrument modules like optics, mechanical and thermal with support from subject matter experts.Develop plans, procedures and execute robustness testing like environmental corner case and shipping/vibration with support from subject matter expertsDevelop custom tests scripts using Python and Matlab to support Critical Parameter Management (CPM) and design verification activitiesDevelop test setups to support CPM and life testsDesign mechanical test systems in CAD using engineering best practices.Support system- and subsystem-level integration and testCreate and present test findings to the cross functional design teamsCreate concise reports that document test results, requirement verification and limitations and constraints.Contribute as a key technical member on a team of creative and independent individualsRequirements:Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline (Engineering, Math, Science), Preferred Mechanical engineering with 2-4 years of experienceMaster of Science Degree in a STEM discipline (Engineering, Math, Science), Preferred Mechanical Engineering with 0-2 years of experience.Proficiency in programming tools, such as Python, Matlab and labviewExperience with solid modeling and drawing creation (Solidworks preferred) and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)Mechanically inclined and hands-on individualExperience with real time test environments such as National InstrumentsAdaptability and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environmentGood verbal and written skills requiredStrong troubleshooting skillsOccasional travel required (<15%)The estimated base salary range for the Engineer 2 – Development role based in the United States of America is: $72,000 - $108,000. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
