Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world-changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Illumina's employee benefits are industry-leading and include, flexible time off, private medical insurance, compassion and care time off, leisure travel insurance, pension, lifestyle allowance, employee stock purchasing program, volunteer time off and much more!Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Develop tailored computational pipelines for enzyme design, engineering, and discovery.Implement various bioinformatic tools and state of the art AI/ML models to engineer and/or discover novel enzymes for NGS, with defined goals and timeframes.Participate in multi disciplinarily protein engineering projects and interact with engineers, chemists, biophysicists, and protein scientists, to deliver protein variants with desired properties.All listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.Education, Experience & Attributes required:Typically requires a Ph.D. in computational chemistry, computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science or related fields, or equivalent work & educational experience.Advanced programming skills with at least one of the major programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Python, Matlab, R).A proficient grasp of machine learning and deep learning methods, as well as practical experience in implementing them effectively.Deep understanding of probabilistic and statistical modeling, algorithm design, and data structures.Critical problem solving and creative approach to data analysis and algorithm design.Highly motivated individual with proven ability in thinking innovatively and the proven track record of productive research and development.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Collaborative, open and self-aware, team player, and able to rapidly integrate into cross functional teams.Preferred experiences and attributesExpert knowledge on current bioinformatics, genomics and proteomics resources and classic bioinformatics algorithms.Experience with protein structural modelling, protein-ligand interaction predictions and/or molecular simulations.Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and protein databases.Familiarity with Linux, and shell scripting.Familiarity with next generation sequencing technologies, tools, and workflows.Knowledge in biochemistry, enzymology, and/or molecular biology.What can you expectOur team members are bright, energetic, and dedicated - they are the driving force behind our innovation and impact.
