If you want a brilliant, fast-paced, mission-driven environment then Illumina is the place for you.Responsibilities:In close collaboration with the Senior Government Affairs Director EMEA, the associate director will be responsible to develop and implement the government affairs strategy in the UK and Ireland.Identify gaps and develop the necessary policy instruments (position papers, fact sheets and others as appropriate).Monitor healthcare trends, relevant legislative and policy developments, and analyze their impact to Illumina.Representation of Illumina's interests in the relevant associations.Draft statements of corporate positions on policy issues including position papers, memoranda, fact sheets, comments for government stakeholders.Draft & disseminate internal analyses & reports regarding policy developments.Support the drafting of briefing documents for the ILMN leadership team.Support communication efforts with government representatives, industry representatives & representatives of other entities involved in development of policy.Facilitate and coordinate internal business operations across teams to enable the achievement of shared business objectives and to raise awareness and facilitate communication and coordination of effort.Support the tracking of budgets and spendings of the Government Affairs team.Manage external consultants.Develop relationships with key policy stakeholders and their staff, academia and industry experts.Preferred background, skills and experienceSignificant experience in public policy and medical devices/ IVDs/ biopharmaceutical policy environment. A good understanding of issues surrounding genomics will be considered an advantage.A self-starter, using good analytical skills and a strategic approach to highlight key opportunities and challenges for business growth.Sound business judgment and analytical skills, and capacity for autonomous decision-making, even with little prior supervision at times.Proven teamwork and collaboration skills.Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.Fluent oral and excellent writing skills in English; other European languages are a plus.Position requires regular travel.Excellent attention to detail and curiosity to learn are key indicators of success.Strong written drafting skills, with a focus on producing clear, concise documents for internal use or external publication.Education:Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent, may require an advanced degree (Master's), in applicable field or equivalent.               Educational background in Law, Politics or European Studies.What can you expectWith Illumina you can expect a highly competitive salary accompanied by a market leading benefits package.
