Surrounded by extraordinary people, inspiring leaders, and world changing projects, you will do more and become more than you ever thought possible.Position SummaryOur DevOps team optimizes the deployment and management of Illumina’s global cloud-based informatics Platform.You will bring subject matter expertise and focus on continuous integration and deployment pipelines.  Your charter is to collaborate with Engineering, Test, and DevOps to consolidate frameworks and automate as possible from code analysis, build, integration with test automation suites, and ultimately enabling ‘hands-off’ deployments to global AWS environments. You will support our cloud SAAS globally as a member of our DevOps team and proactively collaborate with Global DevOps teams to ensure service continuity and security.   The successful candidate will work on various cutting-edge DevOps tools and technologies (Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Kubernetes, docker, Cloud etc) to manage Cloud-based enterprise applications. They will be expected to help providing breakthrough genomics informatics solutions worldwide enabling the transformation of human health through DNA sequencing.ResponsibilitiesPrimary influence within department, external departments, and customers on routine matters within specific technical spaceOwns/designs a medium to large subsystem or process, documents, communicates team plans, methods, procedures, and/or changesContributes to departmental scheduling and for delivery of projects within the overall time frame and budget established jointly with management.  Works towards quarterly objectives. Translates quarterly priorities into operational reality; setting clear objectives, assigns resources, following process, monitoring and correcting, and measuring results.Automates and implements of highly available, resilient, and secure platforms in public clouds without manual or direct interventionProvide third level support and administration for the global portfolio and participates in follow-the-sun on call rotationEnforces security by design, develops security controls, recommends procedures to enforce security and regulatory complianceDemonstrates a "one company" approach; discourages "we-they" thinking; fostering collaboration across functions and locations; removes barriers to teamwork; anticipates and works to resolve potential or emerging conflicts.Write and peer review automation code with an eye to creating a flexible, resilient, scalable, and secure service offeringActively supports project teams when issues are raised, and helps team to understand business needs, customer requirements, and resource constraintsRequirementsExpertise in Design, Architecture, Administration, Configuration, Optimization and Monitoring of Linux, related distros, Containers and SAAS infrastructure at scale.Advanced Experience with AWS and/or other public cloud-based deployment and supportThe ability to pick up new technologies quickly and rapidly deep diveAdvanced knowledge of Internet protocols and can trouble shoot complex virtual network infrastructureA strong preference for collaborative teamwork and work/knowledge sharingBe comfortable speaking with internal customers, and suppliersA driving needs to fix a problem only onceExperience in implementing infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Cloud FormationProgramming/Language skills – BASH Scripting, Python, Node JS, Java, PowerShell, GO, SQL, NoSQL, log query languages, or relatedSubject Matter Expert to configure, administer, analyze performance, and monitor one or more of:Large scale data systems including Relational DB, ELK, MongoVirtual compute systems, and/or Kubernetes, Docker containers, Hadoop, Messaging systems including RabbitMQ, Kafka, Service BusNetwork infrastructure, Cyber-Security controls, Logging, Monitoring and/or other emerging technologiesExperience/EducationTypically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or equivalent experienceTechnical certifications in any public clouds or infosec related domains.#LI-REMOTEThe estimated base salary range for the Staff DevOps Engineer role based in the United States of America is: $136,100 - $204,100. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
