The Associate Director reports to the Head of Government Affairs EMEA.The core areas of responsibility for this position will include: strategy development, coalition building and legislative analysis. As Associate Director, Government Affairs, you must be able to effectively anticipate, track and analyse the full implications of policy issues that could impact Illumina’s commercialised products, pipeline assets, or operating environment in the broadest sense.You will interact productively with the company’s cross-functional environment in the region, working in close connection with other functions such as: Commercial Ops, Market Access, Medical and Scientific Affairs, and Regulatory Affairs amongst others. The Associate Director must be adaptable to new fast -moving situations with a high level of energy and passion towards genomics and its broad applications in routine healthcare.Responsibilities includeIn close collaboration with the Head of Government Affairs EMEA, the AD will develop and implement a GA strategy for Spain.Maintain and communicate an effective monitoring and analysis of major national policy/legislative developments and initiatives likely to impact Illumina’s operations in selected countriesIdeate strategies and shape stakeholder coalitions at national level, particularly with a view to ramping up political pathways to support the uptake of cWGS in routine healthcare, the adoption of NIPT and the development of large-scale population genomics programmesEnsure effective representation of Illumina on the various working groups of interest active at national level (i.e. industry associations) and together with the Head of Government Affairs EMEA continuously assess whether Illumina’s interests are optimally covered by these platformsEstablish and maintain a ready communication channel for senior Illumina executives with senior stakeholders in the relevant institutions and facilitate such meetings for visiting executives.Develop and maintain relationships with academia, industry experts and semi-government research institutions related to Illumina’s business in selected markets.Provide weekly Government Affairs update for EMEA to be incorporated in the Global Update Preferred background, skills and experienceExtensive experience in public policy and medical devices/ IVDs/ biopharmaceutical policy environment.
