Responsibilities include translation of the UI/UX designs and wireframes to exceptional DRY code that will produce visual elements for our design system & enterprise level applications. You will work with developers, UI/UX designers, and cross-functional colleagues to bridge the gap between visual design and technical implementation. We are seeking candidates who are self-motivated and can prioritize and manage their workload, are strong communicators with an eye for detail, who possesses the ability to meet critical project milestones and deadlines.This Staff User Experience Developer will need to be highly experienced with cross-browser compatibility issues, well-versed with design system development, an expert of web-based animation techniques, and demonstrate user interface design skills. A suitable candidate will be user focused, a team-builder and team player, and have an ability to work in a fast paced and highly collaborative environment. Candidate must be highly organized and have the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. This role can be performed at our San Diego office or remotely within the United StatesResponsibilities:Translate design specs into reusable web components using HTML5/CSS3, SCSS, and Angular 8Build dynamic and complex script-based animations to play in a web browserBecome an integral member of a dedicated team of UX Developers and Interaction Designers building a world-class design systemBe a design system ambassador, helping product development teams onboard and consume Illumina’s design systemCollaborate closely with interaction and visual designers to deliver pixel-perfect code and components in a fast-paced environmentCollaborate with cross-functional development teams and product managers across product lines to ensure adoption and consistent application of design system frameworkDeliver quality front-end dev solutions that work across all major modern browsers, including Edge, Chrome, Safari, Firefox and are mobile responsiveRefactor/optimize existing code to deliver performant code and the best user experienceParticipate in agile scrum process and brainstorming sessions to determine the best technical solutions to achieve the goals set by the management teamAll listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.Requirements:Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experienceExperience with building and deploying enterprise-level design systems6+ years experience in front-end development, highly proficient with HTML5, CSS3, and web standards for building semantic and responsive UIsProficient with web based animations using SVG, Canvas, Greensock, and other modern methodsIdeally proficient in a combination of:   Javascript, JSON, Angular 8+, and ES6+ and experience working with git, Github & bash/powershell for developmentExperience with design system web component-based developmentExperience in developing and applying design patterns, familiarity of user centered design process, methodology, and GUI best practices.Familiarity with Jira, Agile, and Scrum-based developmentAbility to code interfaces across a range of devices (e.g. desktop computers, mobile devices, consumer or scientific devices)Ability to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical team membersUnderstanding of BEM CSS preferredAbility to meet deadlines, be organized, be proactive, and embrace change in a fast-paced environment.Nice to have:Experience working with TypescriptExperience with NPM, gulp, Jenkins, or TeamCityExperience with test automation and test-driven development I.E. Jasmin, Cypress, etc.Ability to prototype is a plusExperience with D3, WebGL, Three.js  desiredExperience with RESTful web services and understanding of their implementation#LI-REMOTE #LI-ONSITE #LI-HYBRIDThe estimated base salary range for the Staff User Experience Developer (Remote - US) role based in the United States of America is: $136,100 - $204,100. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
