The goal is to promote rapid adoption of lllumina technology by providing segment and technical knowledge into supporting channel sales opportunities. The Specialist will develop solutions and build a community of satisfied customers by working with sales channel partners and marketing in both pre- and post-sales activities.This role will focus on driving lllumina's Cancer Research and Oncology Testing business in India to facilitate adoption of lllumina technology across a range of applications to improve understanding of cancer biology and more accurate diagnosis, prognosis and or suggest treatment options for cancer patients. Additional travel outside of region may be occasionally required.Tasks and Responsibilities:Be the subject matter expert for Cancer Research and Oncology Testing applications and voice of customer to regional management, global product management, marketing and market developmentDemonstrate a broad knowledge of the market environment including: current and possible future market trends, practices and information affecting the business; industry trends; competition and competitive environment; marketplace strategies and tacticsAdvise customers on technical aspects such as end-to-end workflows, study design, possible solutions, product positioning and competitor comparisons. Employ creative solutions to overcome barriersWork with channel sales teams to impart deep domain knowledge, including discussion of relevant publications and supporting literature with key customers.Have a deep knowledge of Illumina’s products and the value to customersProvide engaging presentations to drive market interest in lllumina technologiesBe recognized by the community as a market expert and a valuable addition to discussions and conference programsAttend relevant trade shows and conferencesIn collaboration with channel sales and marketing teams, develop and execute strategic plans for winning new business, expanding market share, and building upon existing programs.Identify and interact with key customer types such as Oncologists, Pathologists, Translational Researchers, Academic Researchers and broader pharma community to develop solutions and facilitate the introduction of Illumina products into new customer groupsMake recommendations to channel sales management on ways to approach the district market with new assays and technologies or ways for customers to develop solutions within target customer base.Regularly communicate updates to management of in-district, trends and any issues related to their specific product line performance, competitor activities, or other issues emerging in assigned territory.Facilitate and drive the development of localized sales tools and appropriate training for the channel sales teams and to support Cancer Research and Oncology Testing business. Be a champion of lllumina's solutions in these markets.Spend a significant amount of time in the field, visiting customers with channel partners to maintain positive relationships, implement strategies, tactics and driving key solutions related to Illumina’s products.Identify and interact with key opinion leaders and key customers to develop solutions and facilitate the introduction of Illumina products into new customer groupsProviding strategic and competitive feedback to field marketingResearch and identify new market opportunities in Cancer Research and Oncology Testing in association with sales partners and marketing teams.Work closely with Market development to assess regional markets to determine viability of emerging applications in IndiaAssist, as time permits, with other business development activitiesAdditional Tasks and ResponsibilitiesBe the primary conduit between the customer and Illumina for custom and/or customized product development project (e.g. custom NGS panels and/or genotyping arrays)Execute strategies and campaigns to support channel partners to target and win large Genotyping opportunities. Identifies, qualifies, shapes, and recommends pursuit of large ($1M+) opportunities. All listed tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional task and responsibilities.Preferred Educational Background:M.Sc. or PhD in a Biology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology degree preferred.Preferred Experience & Skills:5-8 years experience in a related environmentExperience in at least one of the in the following fields: Cancer Research or Oncology Testing requiredFluency in English requiredPrior field experience supporting customers in a highly technical field such as Next Generation Sequencing, Array-based Genotyping, molecular diagnostics or molecular testing preferredRecognized deep expertise of cancer biolgy and clinical diagnostics that enable precision medicine and clinical trialsUse of independent judgement in developing methods, techniques or evaluation criteria for obtaining resultsExcellent time management skills – is able to prioritise workload accordinglyFamiliarity with the competitive landscape and trends in Cancer Research, Oncology Testing and the Therapeutics marketsIndependently works on highly complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variablesExcellent demonstrated communication (verbal and written) presentation and training skillsStrong negotiation skills and the ability to persuadeDemonstrated proactiveness in initiating and accomplishing tasksProven ability to lead and influence a broad spectrum of constituents (internal stake holders, external shareholders and key opinion leaders in the field) with divergent interests in order to create a defined and focused course of actionNetwork of established customer relationships preferredExperience in reporting basic financial dataAbility to travel within district and regionally to carry out primary responsibilities, must be willing to travel up to 50%Business or Sales experience preferred but not essentialAdditional experiences Lab–based experience in sequencing library prep methods and sequencing instrumentation preferredExperience with DNA microarray technology and genotyping applications is preferred.
