We offer a culture that is ideally suited to people who enjoy the focus, collaboration, and discipline required to shape innovative technologies into real-world products.The Engineering Technician will build and test fuel cell stacks, and collect data as defined in the test plan and in consultation with the Test Engineers. The person will contribute to stack build fixture and assembly improvements and test station improvements. The ideal candidate will have excellent hands-on problem-solving skills and be able to exercise independent judgment. This technician must be able to effectively communicate with the cross-functional engineering teams, should be creative, self-motivated, and able to handle multiple project assignments within a fast-paced engineering organization.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesBuild small and large size stacks for product development using established fixtures and tools, and improvise the process as needed.Plan and organize for the stack build, check with engineers and senior technicians on differences in new stack design and tooling necessary prior to build.Document the build process and parts used for traceability.Perform detailed tests on fuel cell stacks and components as per an established test plan or in consultation with a Test Engineer to measure stack performance and durability.Collect test data ensuring that the test conditions are properly adhered to. Identify unusual changes in the fuel cell stack behavior or test station behavior and take corrective action.Reduce and analyze test data in consultation with the Test Engineer. Maintain the data files in the appropriate file location.Perform test setups in accordance with the established process and improve the process.Identify and define problems in the product being tested or the test process, suggest improvements to the team and implement solutions.Utilize excel to plot and present data.Develop and write reports based on tests conducted.Become familiar with key stack performance parameters.Communicate with engineering staff to resolve design details and problems.Always represent Plug Power in a professional manner and in all interactions.Perform all other duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceAssociates degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or a similar technical field or military certification, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.3+ years of related work history preferably within a technology product manufacturing environment in product build and testing.Ability to debug and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.Experience in testing technically complex products such as fuel cells, automotive, engines or power train, power generation, renewables, energy storage products like batteries or capacitors, or similar products is a big plus.Experience in reducing and analyzing data using MS excel or similar software.Mechanical experience with installing instrumentation and control elements (thermocouples, pressure transducers, control valves, etc) is a big plus.Computer and software systems skills including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.Experience with a structured Engineering Change Process and related procedures.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.Possess solid hands-on approach to problem-solving.Ability to exercise independent judgement.Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.Excellent follow-through, driven and self-motivated.Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality.We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓ Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
