Pay Rate:$75,240.00 - $112,860.00Senior Controls EngineerStatus: Exempt (Salaried)                                                      Department:  Systems EngineeringPosition SummaryPlug Power is the industry leader providing hydrogen fuel cell systems for material handling, backup power and E-mobility markets. We are currently looking for senior controls engineer to develop and improve control architecture for fuel cell power systems. As part of the systems team, senior controls engineer is responsible for defining the control architecture and develop software controls for mobility and stationary fuel cells system.  The ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional controls and software development skills with a strong background in engineering.  This individual must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and is willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering organization.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide technical input during the design phase for robust control systems for next generation automotive and stationary fuel cell systems.Develop controls strategy for programs associated with product development, cost reductions and reliability improvementsCreate system and subsystem controls specification and documentation to meet on vehicle and stationary applications.Design and improve control algorithms and state machines to maximize fuel cell stack and system life.Prepare documentation that clearly communicates and tracks the software design processDevelop/maintain communication protocol between fuel cell and vehicleAssist in development of system models for simulation and model-based controlInterface with customers and other organizations to acquire and document control requirementsDevelop and execute system level testing and data analysis.Develop plans, design of experiments (DoE) and execute testing to verify the newly developed concepts.Conduct thorough statistical analyses of experimental results.Develop and execute validation plans for software developmentProvide input for system operator specification and fault handlingWork professionally and cooperatively in a cross-functional team environment with a focus upon maximizing system performance and customer satisfactionPerform all other duties as assignedEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, software, or systems engineering or related field.Minimum eight (8) years of related work experience in controls or software developmentExperience with fuel cell system controls or automotive controls in embedded C language for real time controlDrive Model-based controls using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow for fuel cellsComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Matlab, C, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with version control software  (GIT preferred)Experience in Implementing and testing serial communication protocols (automotive CAN TCP/IP or LIN is preferred)Familiar with Functional safety requirements per IS026262 focus fuel cell & and subsystemsDynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholdersExcellent verbal and written communication skills including exceptional presentation skillsDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyAbility to travel as requested for business needExempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.  This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.  We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓ Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
