Pay Rate:$75,240.00 - $112,860.00Senior Process Engineer – Hydrogen PlantStatus: Exempt (salaried)                                                                  Position SummaryThe Senior Process Engineer is a critical member of the Hydrogen Production, Project Execution, and Development teams.  This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the design of hydrogen generation, compression, liquefaction, storage, and dispensing systems at all Plug Power plant locations. By partnering with the engineering, production, commissioning, and plant operation/maintenance teams, the Senior Process Engineer will develop a thorough understanding of the process and performance requirements of the Hydrogen plant and will be an integral part to continually improve its effectiveness and design. The Senior Process Engineer will be an integral part to help in the enhancement of the current technology and assist in the development and design of new facilities.  This role is vital to support Plug Power technology to further the Company’s reputation as the industry leader in green hydrogen production and fuel cell applications development.    Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and deploy solutions for hydrogen infrastructure systems focused on process improvements and optimal system performance.Provide leadership when deploying solutions for H2 design and process implementation to ensure appropriate communication and achievement of deliverables.Support Plug’s project team, EPC and Sub-Vendors in the design of new Hydrogen facilities.Read, and maintain comprehensive project documentation including P&ID’s, equipment specifications, PFD’s, engineering process and standards, etc.Work across functional groups and with outside vendors to develop innovative solutions to meet project technical and commercial requirements.Responsible for the review and approval of process engineering deliverables.Review vendor quotations and prepare bid evaluations and technical recommendations.Proactive in providing value-added solutions to current designs.Participate in HAZOP/LOPA and resolve related action items.Partner with Operations, Engineering, and outside vendors to prioritize critical tasks to meet projects objectives most optimally as needed.Work with our Development Group to develop new sites and technology to support efficient and innovative growth of Hydrogen production.Work cross-functionally to assess current state, gather requirements, and translate specifications for the execution of projects, delivery of technology solutions and products.Develop Engineering processes and standards for Hydrogen production and plant design.Support all new projects and active sites as required.Work Cross Functionally to continue the evolution of product and manufacturing design.Provides technical commissioning and startup support as needed to our operation team.Good Listener and work with Operations Teams to develop Lessons Learned and Process Improvements.Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions.Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.  This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution, Master’s degree is preferred.Eight (8) or more years of relevant work history in Process or Chemical Engineering, minimum prior experience with gas processing, cryogenics, ASU, LNG systems.Knowledge of material balance, process engineering, process controls, plant hydraulics, and process safety management.Proficient with process simulation software, such as Unisim, Hysys, Aspen plus.Familiar with industry codes and standards including NFPA, API, etc.Command of general chemical engineering principles and calculations.Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.Must be driven and self-motivated.Ability to work with minimum supervision.Superior written and oral communication skills.Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.Experience in leading and/or coordinating cross-functional teams.Strategic thinker with exceptional analytical skills.Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality.Ability to travel as needed to carry out duties of the position – up to 15%.Preferred Skills and Experience:Experience with large scale construction projects, durations of 6 to 18 months.Preferred experience with Liquified Hydrogen/Helium Processes and Electrolyzers.Experience in or working with Renewable Energy (wind, hydro, or solar).Experience with balance of plant work for a new construction project.Leading and mentoring of younger Process Engineers.Professional Engineer Certification.Technical Writing Skills.We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓ Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
