The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for evaluating supplier capabilities and quality as it relates to key supplier delivery and quality requirements. This individual will refine and execute improvements to the supplier audit and qualification process with supply chain, engineering and the quality assurance team. This engineer will work to develop supplier quality plans on a regular basis with guidance from the Supplier Quality Manager. The ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional communication and project management skills along with a strong background in engineering and quality. This individual must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and is willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering organization. Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesServe as a focal point for inbound/outbound technical quality communication on all production componentsSupport Engineering DFMEA initiatives with collection of KPI data on critical design featuresAssist with qualification of IATF 16949 and develop initiatives for requirementsWork extensively in the development and improvement of supply base performance for existing and new productsPerform supplier assessments and supplier audits for compliance to regulations, agreements, standards, and documented processesActively participate in the new product introduction team as it relates to supplier quality, supporting product and process design and developmentExecute and document supplier non-conformance reports Supplier Corrective Actions (SCARs) and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs)Represent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions; support the philosophy of the organization to provide high-performing technology to maximize customer satisfactionPerforms other related duties as assignedEducation and Experience Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field of studyMinimum of three (3) years quality engineering experience (industrial and/or automotive is preferred)Minimum of five (5) years of experience in quality assurance, 8D/6Sigma, ISO and/or QS standardsSelf-starter with ability to design and implement quality systems and best practicesSix Sigma, 8D/Lean, ISO (IATF 16949) and ASQ certifications highly preferredKnowledge and experience with implementing Statistical Process Controls, applying Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and root cause analysis are a plusAbility to travel up to 30% of the time based on business needComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook Strong verbal and written communication skillsDynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders.Uncompromising dedication to qualityDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyAbility to role model high standards of professionalismExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivatedExempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.
