Pay Rate:$62,700.00 - $94,050.00Project EngineerPosition SummaryThe Project Engineer role will support the design and development of electrolyzer electrode materials and components for current and future products. The occupant of this role must maintain an acute knowledge of electrolyzer product performance requirements and the role of individual component selection to overall performance, durability, and manufacturability. The role requires knowledge of materials processing, especially carbon-based gas and microporous diffusion media. This information must then be used to help make effective engineering decisions related to material usage and optimal material integration within Plug Power’s electrolyzer products. Through mechanical and electrochemical characterization and analytical techniques, researching and reporting on current and future science communications, and hands-on testing, the Project Engineer will help drive continual improvements in product design and performance.Core Duties And ResponsibilitiesWork on internal and government funded research projects in the area of electrode design, development, evaluation and analysisPrepare or select electrolyzer materials including porous transport layers and carbon-based structuresDevelop best practice and protocols for electrode design, development, and evaluationScale up electrode production using industry-favored processes (R2R, coating, calendaring, papermaking)Research, source, and assess the best vendors to supply the necessary materialsCharacterize composition or structure of electrolyzer electrodesInteract with customers in terms of deliverables, reports, presentationsActively participate in the new product introduction team as it relates to supplier quality, supporting product and process design and developmentRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions; support the philosophy of the organization to provide high-performing technology to maximize customer satisfactionPerform other duties as assignedEducation And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials ScienceTwo (2) plus years of relevant work experience – preferably within a technology manufacturing environmentStrong experience in low and intermediate temperature fuel cells or electrolyzersFamiliarity with gas diffusion layer, porous transport layers, and other componentsPrior experience in electrochemical tests (i.e. cyclic voltammetry, impedance, fuel cell, electrolyzer)Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environmentExceptional data analysis and presentation skillsAbility to think logical and critically to measure the pros and cons and take the most appropriate decisions from the available resourcesDemonstrated aptitude for systems thinking and creative problem solvingAbility to work effectively in both a self-directed and team environmentAbility to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlinesStrong organizational skills and attention to detailDynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiencesProficient computer skills including Microsoft Office softwareMust be highly driven and motivated to achieve goalsWe offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓ Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
