Pay Rate:$75,240.00 - $112,860.00Senior High-Pressure Hydrogen Systems EngineerStatus: Non-Exempt (hourly) Department: Systems Engineering Position SummaryThe Senior High-Pressure Hydrogen Systems Engineer is responsible for the systemic design of high-pressure hydrogen equipment as utilized in a fuel cell system. This includes high-pressure hydrogen storage, pressure and flow regulation, and system safety. Success in this role requires a strong background in the mechanical design of high-pressure equipment, as well as a firm understanding of the behavior of high-pressure gases, specifically hydrogen. The ideal candidate would apply their knowledge of safe industry practices to both stationery and e-mobility applications. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, and the candidate will be expected to communicate effectively both within the immediate team as well with other teams within the engineering organization and beyond. The candidate must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced engineering organization. This position will report to the Manager of Systems Engineering.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesHigh-pressure hydrogen subsystem ownership across multiple system platforms.Translate high level system requirements to subsystem level requirements.Pursue common design philosophies and architectures where possible.Maintain a working knowledge of best practices and industry codes and standards and their application to subsystem designs.Develop test plans to validate system design.Ability to communicate engineering data effectively and succinctly across many levels within the organization.Document test results and engineering developments in clear, easy to understand language and formats.Participate in multi-disciplinary peer reviews.Represent Plug Power in a professional manner and foster the team-oriented culture that has been developed over many years.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or other related engineering field.5-10 years of experience with high pressure gas applications, preferably with hydrogen.Knowledge of relevant standards, codes, and best practices and they apply to high-pressure gaseous systems. Specifically, familiarity and experience working with ASME boiler and pressure vessel code and API standards is preferred.Direct hand-on experience working with and alongside test engineers is preferred.Effective communication abilities; strength in communicating complex concepts in an understandable form.Computer and software system skills as applicable to position including but not limited to MATLAB, GT suite, Lab View, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
