Pay Rate:$75,240.00 - $112,860.00Sr. Systems Engineer, HydrogenStatus: Exempt (salaried)                                                                  Department: HydrogenLocation: Remote or Latham, NYPosition SummaryThe Systems Engineer, Hydrogen is responsible to lead Plug Power’s development, operation, and continual improvement of hydrogen fueling infrastructure at both customer and company owned locations. This position will primarily work with the internal Plug Power hydrogen systems team, hydrogen engineering team, construction team, and service team in addition to external vendor’s engineering staff to ensure the corporate refueling offering is a thoroughly vetted product with continuous operation. The ideal candidate should possess a background in chemical, process, or industrial engineering and must be willing to travel to deployment locations when required to assist in unique commissioning or complex troubleshooting efforts; up to 10% of the time.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power products’ designs and functionalityAct as a Subject Matter Expert for hydrogen generation, compression, storage, and dispensing systemsDevelop Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, perform Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, and specify critical balance of plant components for hydrogen generating, compressing, storing, and dispensing systemsDevelop and lead projects for equipment cost reduction and efficiency improvementAct as Responsible Engineer and coordinate/collaborate with internal personnel for testing and deployments of new or modified technology; be proactive in alignment of efforts to achieve project deadlinesInterface with vendors as necessary to vet their offering, gain critical information for troubleshooting, or implement improvementsProvide guidance and technical expertise to component and automation engineers as to how overall system and individual equipment is meant to operateProvide expertise to assist the construction management team with drawing development and permitting as neededReview operational data and construction/assembly drawings to assist in complex troubleshooting efforts with field service personnelRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions.Perform all other duties as assignedEducation and ExperienceBS degree in chemical, process, industrial, or mechanical engineeringA minimum of eight (8) years working experience in process/chemical plant environmentE.I.T. certificate or P.E. license highly preferredAbility to travel occasionally; up to 10% of the timeTo deployment sites for infrastructure commissioning or troubleshootingTo meeting with venders and verify equipment operationExperience in any of the following spheres of activity is preferred and highly valued: Hydrogen and/or fuel cellsCryogenic IndustryHigh Pressure Systems (250 Bar and up)Gas processing and/or dispensing equipmentOil and Gas, CNG, LNG, etc…Logistics/Material HandlingProcess development including P&IDs, PFDs, material and energy balances and process simulations.Facilitating or participating in risk studies such as HAZOP, FMEA, and LOPA. Specifying process equipment including vessels, pumps, valves, heat exchangers and instruments.Knowledge of fluid flow and pressure drop calculations for pipe and relief valve sizing.Possess computer/software skills as applicable to the position including but not limited to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Project, and Visio. Programming knowledge in Python, Matlab, or mathcad Matcad desired, but not required.  Driven and self-motivated with excellent follow-through.Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyAbility to role model high standards of professionalism with an uncompromising dedication to quality design & documentation and operational safetyDemonstrate analytical abilities with strong attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication skillsDynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiencesWe offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
