Position SummaryThe Director, Insurance / Enterprise Risk Management will oversee the development and implementation of Plug’s global insurance program and Plug’s enterprise risk management program in order to identify, assess, and make recommendations that will manage and mitigate Plug’s operational and financial risks. The Director, Insurance / Enterprise Risk Management will work closely with Plug’s Legal, Finance, and Internal Audit teams as well as Plug’s insurance broker to ensure expanding global coverage needs and contractual obligations are met. In addition, this position will assess risk exposures and related financial impact, negotiate insurance coverage, and oversee resolution of claims. Over time this individual also will be responsible for building out and managing an appropriate team. The Insurance / Risk Management Director should be an expert in the insurance industry and have demonstrated experience building out a global insurance and enterprise risk management programs.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork closely with insurance companies to manage the negotiation and renewal of insurance coverage for all policies.Implement and conduct risk assessments for existing and new company lines of business, and any developing company policies in order to mitigate risk and liability claims.Manage the meetings and activities of the internal ERM management committee.Work closely with executive leadership to report any claims or potential litigation against the organization to necessary stakeholders and to prepare materials to present to the Plug Board of Directors as needed.Develop presentations outlining findings, identifying, and explaining potential risks, and recommending solutions to executive leadership.Develop and implement contingency plans to manage business interruptions, volatile market events, and other emergencies.Ensure proper process for documentation and payment of claims. Maintain knowledge of existing and developing laws and regulations relating to the hydrogen and fuel cell industry; assess and explain to leadership how new requirements may affect Plug Power in terms of risk exposure.Ensures Sarbanes-Oxley compliance as it relates to reconciliation of insurance billings against claims.Education and Experience Bachelors degree in Business, Finance or related discipline.A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in insurance or enterprise risk management in a large, complex organization.International insurance experience preferredPublicly traded company experience preferred.Must demonstrate experience as a subject matter expert in insurance or risk management industry.Must demonstrate experience successfully implementing or managing a complex risk management program at the corporate level.Must possess strong analytical and financial acumen.Must possess strong leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively with leadership, business unit leaders and brokers.
