Senior System Test EngineerStatus: Exempt (Salaried) Department: Systems EngineeringPosition SummaryPlug Power is the industry leader providing hydrogen-powered fuel cell systems for material handling equipment, backup power systems and on-road vehicles. The Systems Test Engineer is responsible for system level testing of fuel cell systems. Testing role includes design of test, test procedure development, conducting test, and reporting test results to verify system operation and performance. Findings from testing need to be clearly communicated to design team to support resolution of issues identified. Ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional communication and project management skills along with a strong background in engineering with practical experience testing complex systems. This individual must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering organization.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute system level testing and data analysisWork with design team to resolve issues identified throughout testingParticipate in design reviews supporting development of new products and changes to existing productsParticipate in failure mode and risk analysis of fuel cell and related systemsDevelop system architecture, system requirements, and controls to support development of next generation fuel cell systemsWork professionally and cooperatively in a cross-functional team environment with a focus upon maximizing system performance and meeting customer needsRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions; support the culture of the organization to provide high-performing technology meeting customer needsEducation and ExperienceBachelors degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering or related field with aMinimum of 8 years of experience working with complex systems in systems engineering or test engineering role.Related work experience in the fuel cell systems or related field is desired.Practical experience with testing complex systemsDemonstrated aptitude for evaluating complex systems and creative problem solvingKnowledge of fluid flow heat transfer as it pertains to fluid systems consisting of pumps, compressors, control valves, heat exchangers, humidifiers, etceteraKnowledge of instrumentation, electronics, and data acquisitionAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.Teamwork oriented and focused.Effective communication abilities; strength in communicating complex concepts in an understandable form and coordinating efforts involving multiple disciplines.Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders.Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Matlab, C, LabView, Microsoft Office.
