Network AdministratorStatus: Exempt (Salaried)Department: ITPosition SummaryThis position assists in the design, implementation, and maintenance of daily operations of the global network and connectivity needs of the organization, under the guidance of the Plug Power Infrastructure Team. Network Administrators are responsible for the build activities, maintenance, and administration of the Firewalls, routers and switches. This includes the placement of physical equipment such as routers, switches, and required cabling. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ensuring proper maintenance of networking devices, fortifying network security, working with global IT staff on diverse global projects, and/or prioritized projects to solution and satisfy business and connectivity needs.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist in determining the IT needs of the company to support daily operations. Coordinating, planning, maintaining, and troubleshooting all IT- related activities so the company has the necessary infrastructure, network capability, and compute tools (software/applications) to operate efficiently and securelyRecommends, plans, develops, and implements network configuration changes and/or upgrades to maintain appropriate levels of service, and security to user communityAnalyzes, identifies, and resolves communication problems occurring between servers, workstations, PCs, and the InternetTroubleshoot and administrates daily issues with circuits, fiber, routers, switches, VoIP, and any security vulnerabilitiesAssist in managing the IT implementations for new business locations and acquisitions, as well as upgrades/improvements to existing infrastructureDevelops and monitors Local Area and Wide Area Network (LAN and WAN) performance and utilization statistics and prepares periodic reports for management summarizing network statusWorks on impactful, prioritized projects to meet organizational needs/directivesCommunicate and coordinate with outside vendors in support of email, internet, and service needsMaintain documentation on system flows, processes, policies, and proceduresEducation and Experience A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems, or equivalent experienceA minimum of 5 years IT professional experience with a global network requiredAdvanced knowledge of Cisco, Aruba Extreme, EMC, and ESXi networking-based solutionsUnderstanding of TCP/IP, and PC networking is strongly preferredThorough knowledge of network communication concepts as they relate to network topology and supportAbility to create and maintain diagrammatic representations of network configurations using Visio or other graphical topology toolsExperience leading and managing IT projects and supporting existing networks and infrastructureStrong critical thinking/problem solving skills requiredProject Management skills and the ability to prioritize with and without direct input or supervisionAbility to work independently, be resourceful, and communicate effectively in a decentralized environmentAbility/willingness to travel up to 30% is desiredPlug Power Inc. is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
