Senior Electrical Engineer, Transmission & Interconnection*Remote Opportunity!*Status: Exempt (Salaried)Department: Project Development (Energy Solutions)Position SummaryJoin Plug Power’s Project Development team to help build the first generation of commercial-scale green hydrogen production plants in North America and kickoff the next major step in decarbonization of the transportation and industrial sectors.In this role you will be responsible for the interconnection of Plug’s green hydrogen production plants to sources of renewable energy. This includes design and development of high voltage equipment and architectures at the front-end of green hydrogen electrolysis plants; management and execution of system impact, large load, and facilities studies with grid operators all over North America and interfacing with EPCs to expedite the construction and commissioning of the facilities. You will provide technical support to the Project Development team to advance projects with external partners, utilities and ISOs. You will work with renewable energy partners to design transmission and substation solutions to interconnect and control complex mixed renewable energy generators including wind, solar and grid sources. You will interface with equipment providers including Plug’s own electrolyzer and liquefaction equipment teams to maintain accurate system specifications, load lists and single line drawings. Plug is planning to bring GWs of new load online powered by renewable energy to produce green hydrogen. This role is a unique opportunity to engineer what that load looks like.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesInitiate and manage interconnect studies for large loads with utilities for projects sized at hundreds of MW all over North America.Support Plug’s Project Development and Execution teams, contractors, and vendors in the design and construction of high voltage infrastructure.Support procurement of long-lead equipment including switch gear and transformers.Design and develop HV and MV electrical systems for new hydrogen plants.Review contractor quotes and prepare bid tabulations.Manage contractor work on transmission and interconnection system design.Review and approve contractor design deliverables.Prepare and manage accurate single line drawings, load lists, equipment specifications, and other related documentation.Size, select, and specify high voltage equipment to meet the requirements of the project and utility / industry best practices.Analyze and provide feedback on high voltage design concepts for future hydrogen projects.Represent Plug in interactions with utilities, external partners, renewable developers, and ISOs.Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.  This may require them to work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.  Education and ExperienceBS degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant field of studyFive or more years of experience with interconnection of renewable energy or industrial projects to the grid; experience working on MW scale interconnection projects preferred.Past work experience at a major utility, grid system operator or large renewable energy developer is preferred.Experience working with transmission-level (>70kV) electrical infrastructure is required.Experience working with large scale inverters and/or rectifiers preferred.Familiarity with renewable energy generation preferred.Must be self-motivated and proactive, comfortable and effective working as part of a remote team.Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively manage relationships with internal and external team members.History of successful project execution.Pay Rate:$75,240.00 - $112,860.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓ Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
