VAT analyst EMEAStatus: Exempt (Salaried) Department: Finance/AccountingPosition SummaryPlug Power (NASDAQ PLUG) is leading the green energy revolution and continues to expand rapidly in Europe. The VAT analyst is an integral position in the financial operations team and provides operational financial support to our European business. This role is critical to help drive strategic decision making within the business based upon the measurement of financial data. This position is tasked to assist the Head of Europe Shared Services, with building our indirect tax reporting and compliance operations.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist in gathering necessary backup support documentation for VAT reporting, request VAT invoice revisions and VAT invoice credits as necessary.Managing timely filing of VAT/Intrastat returns and related listings in cooperation with VAT consultants. Ensure all month end VAT processes are actioned on a timely basis.Full responsibility for VAT Returns (and supplementary forms Intrastat) for all the EMEA Companies.Ensure that VAT accounting accounts are correct and reconciled with the other relevant data, such as VAT declarations, P&L, and intrastat filings.Complete all VAT related accounting activities upon which VAT returns depend, including control checks of transaction data and review of supporting tax documentation to identify any errors or anomalies.Ensure that the Periodic VAT journals are uploaded to the GL on a timely basis.Support quarterly and yearly audits, provide requested information/data for auditors. Deliver explanations/data on requests of tax authorities in respect of VAT refund audits and general VAT audits and manage the working relationship with consultants during routine audits and ad hoc enquiries.Provide advice for VAT related questions by other departments such as correct VAT treatment for complex sales transactions, provide VAT coding for AP invoices, etc.Monitor and manage VAT refunds/refund positions.Provide advice to AR department for complex sales transaction (triangulation, export)Act as main point of contact with accounting firms and other tax return preparers Take ownership on complex VAT matters, close cooperation with local advisors and authorities to find solutions.Minimizing VAT liabilities and compliance issues.Identify potential tax planning opportunities.Liaise with sales and business teams on VAT related mattersInvolvement in other tax related issues.Education and Experience1 0r 2 years of relevant work experience, in an international company with multiple VAT registrations, or in one of Big4 companies.Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance/TaxKnowledge of and experience with VAT, intrastat & IC processesKnowledge of Accounting & booking processes Experience with Statutory vs GAAP reconciliationSuperior communication skillsProficient with Microsoft Office softwareAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyAbility to role model high standards of professionalismExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivatedMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work qualityPlug Power, Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
