Electrical Commodity ManagerStatus: Exempt                                                                     Department: Purchasing/Supply ChainLocation: Remote, US - Ability to travel 30%Position SummaryThe Commodity Manager owns supplier relationships while playing a key role in the development and implementation of the overall strategy for fulfillment, cost reduction and margin improvement.  This role also focuses upon development of both short-term and long-term procurement strategies to ensure a well-managed supply chain in support of business goals.  This role must closely align with the appropriate internal stakeholders to understand product build forecasts and schedules so that supply chain activities can be managed to properly support the business at all times.  The Commodity Manager must be the leader to manage cost-out initiatives while ensuring supreme delivery and quality related to the procurement of parts and components that impact Company projects. Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage small team of buyers, setting expectations and guiding the team on effective operations.Develop and implement long term strategies for commodities to assure continuous deflation by leveraging volume, negotiations, and supplier development.Build strong cross-functional relationships, from Engineering through Suppliers, and work with colleagues to understand their needs as related to supply chain; work continuously to exceed their expectations and deliver excellent resultsTrack supplier performance and provide regular feedback to key suppliers; set clear expectations with suppliers and work to add/replace suppliers as needed for optimal business resultsPrepare and manage long-term RFQs, maintain quotes, drive cost savingsPrepare volume forecast based on annual sales goals; communicate forecast as appropriate to supply base; work with suppliers on inventory consignment, blanket PO’s, negotiating LOIs, supply agreements when needed to lock in structured deflation and supply guarantees.Work to mitigate business risk by addressing commodities with long lead times, inability or cost prohibition to air shipping, suppliers with capacity constraints, suppliers with fulfillment issues, suppliers with significant payment or terms constraints, suppliers with excessive pricing, single- or sole-source suppliers; develop solutions to ensure business continuityMitigate risk to the supply chain by understanding the markets, economic conditions, global events, etc.Implement VMI/ partnerships where appropriateManage and track tooling and investmentTracking of projects relating to cost out and deflationNegotiate improved payment terms to satisfy cash flow initiativesRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactionsPerform all other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business, or other applicable field of study or seven (7) or more years of related work experience; experience within a technology manufacturing environment is highly preferredMust be capable of working independently, in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervisionDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailSuperior communication skillsProficient with Microsoft Office software including highly developed skills within ExcelAbility to manage projects and multi-task effectivelyAbility to role model high standards of professionalismExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivatedMust possess the highest ethical standards and a supreme commitment to qualityPay Rate:$75,240.00 - $112,860.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
