Senior Mechanical TechnicianStatus: Non-Exempt (hourly)                                                           Department: NextGen Solutions                                                           Position SummaryThe Mechanical Technician is responsible for fabrication, assembly, modification, debug, testing and troubleshooting of mechanical components for fuel cell systems and fuel cell powered equipment. Excellent electrical and mechanical aptitude as well as strong teamwork skills are expected.  This role requires close interaction with Plug engineering and manufacturing teams as well as external partners to ensure any issues get communicated and resolved in a timely manner. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment performing testing and troubleshooting on a variety of equipment. This position will play an essential role within the NextGen Solutions Team exploring new applications for fuel cells and supporting customer/partner pilot programs.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesAbility to fabricate mechanical parts and sheet metal assemblies using basic machine shop tools.Ability to weld aluminum, mild and stainless steel using MIG & TIG process.Perform component, subsystem and system level testing, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed.Experience constructing and operating test stations used to test mechanical parts such as valves, pumps, fans, etc.Ability to assemble, modify, and repair electrical harnesses and connectors.Assist in the creation of drawings and bills of materials.Participate in safety reviews as required to verify prototypes and systems meet Plug Power safety standards.Interact with engineering for product interface requirements.Travel to customer/partner sites.Perform other related duties as assigned.Requirements Minimum 5 years of experience as a mechanical technician or similar role.Associates degree in a technical field or military certification is preferred.Excellent verbal communication skills – must interact regularly with groups such as manufacturing, and engineering, directly and via electronic communication methods.Ability to fabricate mechanical parts and sheet metal assemblies.Ability to debug and troubleshoot mechanical systems.Must be driven and self-motivated.Pay Rate:$25.94 - $37.41We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
