Sr. Project EstimatorStatus: Exempt (Salaried)Department: Energy Solutions – Project Execution, Project ControlsPosition SummaryThe Sr. Project Estimator is part of the Project Execution team responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction of green hydrogen plant infrastructure and plays an integral role in ensuring the success of the projects. You will be responsible for directing and leading estimating efforts for hydrogen plant infrastructure projects using engineering documents and input from internal and third party resources.This role will ideally be filled by a candidate in the Pittsburgh, PA or Houston, TX regions. It may be remote, but frequent travel to the office is expected.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesImplement standards for cost estimating, analysis, and reporting.Implement and serve as subject matter expert with estimating software.Develop project cost estimates, documenting the approach, analysis, and methodology used and provide documentation for each cost element, indicating sources of data and assumptions used.Create basis of estimate, define assumptions and constraints, and outline strategy for resolution.Develop conceptual cost estimates with limited design information.Collaborate with other departments regarding expectations for input to estimating process.Review 3rd party inputs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with defined scope of work.Review and validate Vendor and Contractor estimates for completeness and accuracy.Gather historical data and ensure its incorporation into latest estimating efforts.Facilitate group review and presentation of estimate.Maintain master estimate files and data relating to estimate.Participate in the RFP and bid analysis process for engineered equipment and construction efforts.Assist in preparing cost data for contract negotiations. Assist Project Controls in the creation or conversion of Control Estimate or Budgets.Perform other related duties as assignedExempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.Education and ExperienceMinimum of 5 years applicable experience within cost estimating role.Bachelor’s degree preferred.Experience with industry standard cost estimating software.Strong knowledge of the industrial construction process and familiarity with labor, material, and equipment pricing conventions.Experience with industrial facilty projects in excess of $100M, preferably within oil/gas, petrochemical, LNG, CNG, or IGC markets.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings: P&IDs, plot plans, piping plans, isometrics, single line diagrams, etc.Ability to assess validity of submitted estimates by Class and quality.Ability to make reasonable assumptions around quantities and sizing based on previous experience.Ability to tactfully work with speed and self-confidence.Strong written and verbal communication skills to produce and maintain data, reports, and statements.Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with all stakeholders.Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and correctly.Pay Rate:$86,815.00 - $138,904.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓ Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
