Sr. Systems AdministratorStatus: Exempt (salaried)Department: Finance / ITPosition SummaryThe Sr. System Administrator is responsible for supporting and managing the systems, networks, telephones, and other infrastructure critical to the day-to-day operations of Plug Power. Systems include the following platforms: Server hardware including Dell servers, Microsoft Windows Server OS; VMware ESX; storage platforms (SAN and NAS). Administration of other services supporting specific business processes which include E-mail, DNS, DHCP, cloud services (Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS), hosted/homegrown applications, and Office 365 administration.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesServer hardware installation, setup and administration.Microsoft Active Directory administration in a forest/domain implementationStorage design, setup and administration including capacity planningVMware migration and administrationMicrosoft Active Directory, Azure, and Office 365 migration and administrationResponsible for infrastructure backup, and monitoringIP telephone configuration and administrationSupport of installation, maintenance, and administration of Windows servers and active directory service infrastructure for both virtual and physical environmentsManagement of Microsoft server security configuration, and event monitoring.Management of enterprise applications, both on-premise and cloud based applicationsProvisioning and administration of user access credentials and folder permissionsMaintenance and administration of DHCP, DNS, IIS, FTP and other network servicesAssure that appropriate process documentation is created and coordinated with the rest of the IT team to maintain consistency regardless of geography.Assists with policy and procedure maintenanceMonitor and work customer support tickets/requests and troubleshoot/resolve daily backup process failuresTriage/Respond to server resource monitoring alertsKnowledge of and applied experience of handling performance monitoring and tuningAbility to participate in a 24/7 on-call support in the event of system outagesAssists in Disaster Recovery planning and testingEducation and ExperienceA bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems (or equivalent experience)A minimum of 6 years of related work history; experience in server configuration, management, administration, and production supportMicrosoft Server systems certifications such as: Microsoft MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCITP are preferredWindows servers; 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2022 experience requiredVMWare vSphere experience requiredMicrosoft Active Directory ServicesBasic knowledge of Microsoft SQL ServerKnowledge and understanding of server virtualization focused on VMware productsKnowledge and understanding of NAS and SAN concepts and connectivityDemonstrate basic to intermediate scripting knowledge and skills with PowerShell and/or VBScript languagesDemonstrate excellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks in a time-critical production environmentAbility to conduct research into server and application issues, as requiredHighly self-motivated, with keen attention to detailProven analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExperience working in a globally dispersed, team-oriented, collaborative environmentMust be available for 7x24 support in the event of scheduled downtime and in response to platform outagesComputer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OutlookPay Rate:$75,240.00 - $112,860.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
