Director, IT Operations EuropeStatus: ExemptDepartment: ITPosition SummaryThe role of Director, IT Operations Europe is to ensure optimal performance and support of information technology systems and operations in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The Director, IT Operations Europe will provide technical expertise and guidance to European IT staff, provide strategic direction on the operations and maintenance of local and wide area networks, support end users, provide oversight on daily helpdesk operations, support enterprise and localized applications, and serve as the primary IT focal point for Regional-specific operations and initiatives.The Director, IT Operations Europe role will coordinate closely with the VP of Information Technology and additional IT Director and IT staff at headquarters to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions in line with the organization’s strategic vision.The incumbent will travel (as required) to corporate, satellite, and customer sites throughout Europe in order to implement technology solutions and support the management, operations, quality control, and efficiency of IT systems supporting the organization.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsuring seamless support of the IT operations in the region, including user support, IT systems support, domain/networking services, communications, and connectivity.Monitoring and coordinating upgrades, backups, and security provisions of hardware and software systems.Hands on experience managing small data centers, escalation/emergency situations, and providing oversight to resolve complex technical hardware or software problems.Providing localized guidance and support to the IT staff as they perform troubleshooting and maintenance tasks on the servers, PCs, and other devices.Coordinate and collaborate with additional IT leadership on addressing critical gaps discovered via a needs assessment, including prioritization, strategic planning, execution, and controls needed to stabilize and optimize hardware, software, systems, and metrics.Planning and executing technology projects and system implementations throughout Europe in an organized and effective manner. Establishing project scopes, goals, timelines, resources, and deliverables that support business goals and tracking progress throughout the project lifecycle.Assisting IT staff in planning, managing, and build out of new offices, plants, customer sites, and integration of M&A activity.Collaborate on Enterprise and localized applications solutions.Provide oversight, capability assessments, and growth council (mentoring) to junior IT staff members.Working with IT staff on maintaining documentation of IT infrastructure, network topology, SOP’s, and equipment in each distinct office/facility.Serve as the localized single point of contact (SPOC), escalation point, and IT liaison for the department in the applicable region.Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems and 5+ years of related work experienceDemonstrated ability to manage IT systems and staff in a remote of hybrid environmentDemonstrated ability to plan, execute, and measure technology projects, application upgrades, and new system implementations effectivelyManagement skills with demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong oral and written communications skills in English and ability to communicate in a highly matrixed environment (across departments and time zones)Ability and willingness to travel in Europe and potentially AsiaExperience working as a team leader, mentor, and a demonstrated ability to build teams and servicesWorking knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, O365, Cisco and Aruba networking devices, and hyperscalers (Azure, AWS, etc.)Demonstrated ability to manage 3rd party vendors, Managed Service Providers (MSP’s), and service contractsDemonstrated ability to analyze, plan, and action a diverse range of IT disciplines and systemsPlug Power, Inc. is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
