Senior Engineer - System TestingStatus: Exempt (Salaried)                                                     Department: Systems EngineeringPosition SummaryPlug Power is the industry leader providing hydrogen-powered fuel cell systems for material handling equipment, backup power systems and on-road vehicles. The Systems Engineer is responsible for system level testing and validation of fuel cell systems. Role includes design of test, test procedure development, conducting test, data analysis and reporting test results to verify system operation and performance. Findings from testing need to be clearly communicated to design team to support resolution of issues identified. Ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional communication and project management skills along with a strong background in engineering with practical experience testing complex systems.  This individual must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced engineering organization.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork with multidisciplined team to perform testing of fuel cell power systemsDevelop test procedures for characterization of system performance and durabilityDesign and construct test setups,Testing and data acquisition,Evaluate test data using various analysis tools, develop conclusions and communicate test results to stakeholdersWork with design team to resolve issues identified throughout testingWork with facilities team to maintain and upgrade test facilitiesContinuously improve data analysis procedures, testing systems and protocol, test equipment, test setups and instrumentation, troubleshoot equipment as needed, automate operations.Document and analyze failures using techniques like 8D, root cause analysis, statistics, and pull in experts as needed.  Participate in design reviews supporting development of new products and changes to existing productsManage multiple projects with a focus on delivering high quality results in a timely fashion.Work professionally and cooperatively in a dynamic and fast paced cross-functional team environment focused upon supporting the company’s testing needs.Represent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions; support the culture of the organization to provide high-performing technology meeting customer needsEducation and ExperienceBachelors degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering or related field. Master’s degree or PhD is preferred.Minimum of 8 years of experience working with complex systems in systems engineering or test engineering role.Related work experience in the fuel cell systems or related field is desired.Practical experience with testing and troubleshooting complex systems:Fluid systems. Knowledge of fluid flow and heat transfer as it pertains to fluid systems consisting of pumps, compressors, control valves, heat exchangers, humidifiers, etceteraData acquisition systemsTest instrumentationElectro/mechanical systemsDemonstrated aptitude for evaluating complex systems and developing creative solutions to overcome obstaclesAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.Teamwork oriented and focused.Effective communication abilities; strength in communicating complex concepts in an understandable form and coordinating efforts involving multiple disciplines.Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders.Exceptional data analysis and presentation skills. Knowledge of MATLAB, VBA, or similar software to analyze data and create models is preferred.Previous experience in testing product for certification and compliance to SAE and ISO standards is desired.Ability to travel as requested for business needed (<10%).Excellent verbal and written communication skills including exceptional presentation skills.Self-motivated team player with task-oriented follow-through.Pay Rate:$75,240.00 - $112,860.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
