As a Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test on the System Foundation team, you will bring your perspective and influence the way we think about high quality. You’ll apply your creativity and engineering skills to help shape our system architectural vision which serves as the foundation for which our experiences are built on. What You’ll Do Evaluate software readiness through effective test strategies, creative testing and automation across our family of productsEngineer new automation to support development and quality initiativesMaintain automation stability to inspire confidence in resultsRoot cause system crashes and issues discovered in firmwareInfluence quality early in the development process by anticipating the type of automation needed to evaluate feature readinessWork alongside developers as part of the initial design and develop telemetry instrumentation to capture data that enables us to measure success in key system areasMake improvements throughout the development process that align with changes in architectural decisions and objectivesMentor other members of the team to expand their technical competenciesBe empowered to innovate enhancements on how software quality is delivered What You’ll Need QualificationsBS in CE, EE, CS or equivalent work experienceProficiency in Python & C/C++Experience with Linux as a development platformMust be able to design and debug software test automation for embedded systemsWorking knowledge of modern source code control tools, CI/CD frameworks, and defect tracking systemsMust be able to develop test strategies by reviewing product requirements, software design documents, and source code changesExperience with telemetry to monitor system health; and validate design, development, and quality decisions.Experience debugging firmware code, crashes, watchdog timersExposure to unit testing and code coverageAdditional technologies we use across our teamsAudio codecs - AAC, MP3, OGG, WAVMultichannel audio home theater formats - Dolby, Dolby ATMOS, DTSWireless connectivity protocols for embedded systems - WiFi, BluetoothNetwork infrastructure - network protocols, switches, routers, VLANsCode quality tools - SonarQube, Sentry.IO, ValgrindBuild system tools - Yocto, Meson, CmakeData tools - Tableau, DatadogPlatform as a service tools - Kubernetes, Docker containerizationAWS cloud servicesLocation: Boston - hybridThis is a hybrid role that will need to access our Boston office up to a few days a week Relocation assistance can be provided on an as-needed basisWe consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may cause compensation to vary depending on your skills, experience and qualifications.  This job is also eligible for discretionary bonuses as well as an opportunity to become a Sonos shareholder because all full time employees are eligible for stock grants.  The minimum base pay may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions.
