The successful candidate will be joining a team of highly skilled, energetic Mechanical Engineers who collaborate as a team and help each other solve complex design challenges. The team is a diverse group of detail oriented, naturally inquisitive, driven individuals committed to creating great products.What You’ll Do: The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a key contributing supporter of the ME Technical Lead. As a critical team member, you will:Own design and architecture of complex product parts/subassemblies, and potentially lead low complexity projects.Be part of the ME team and collaborate cross-functionally with Industrial Design, Electrical, Antenna/Radio/Audio/Acoustics, and other engineering teams as well as external development partners.Use engineering structural and tolerance analysis skills to ensure quality of deliverables.Use rapid prototyping techniques (3d printing, cnc milling, injection molding) on a weekly basis to quickly validate new designs.In the course of this work, you are expected to exemplify Sonos behaviours of Respect, Collaboration, Ownership, and Transparency. If you don’t have 100% of the skills listed, we strongly encourage you to apply if interested.Required:3+ years experience in mechanical design and significant experience designing for mass production.Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree or equivalentStrong desire for mentoring and leading junior engineersExperience collaborating cross functionally with Industrial Design, Electrical, and other engineering groupsExperience in material selection and design for plastic, metal and elastomeric partsSolid understanding of manufacturing processes including injection molding, die-casting, stamping, thermoforming, machining, finishing/decorating etc.Experience with rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing and CNC milling.Experience building and managing BOMsExperience providing input to scheduleStrong 3D modeling skills (experienced with 2D spec generation and/or ability to guide draftsperson in this work)Willing to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 10-15% of your timeBeing comfortable with developing (unproven) new solutions Enjoy working in a fast paced exciting environmentNice to have:Experience with Onshape and/or Siemens NXExperience with Comsol Mechanical design of consumer electronicsExperience designing for both indoor and outdoor applicationsExperience working with overseas contract manufacturers and directing activities during prototype builds, including process and fixture definitionUnderstanding of product quality metrics and methods including GD&T, DFMEA, Statistical Process Control (SPC)Previous working experience at startups / scale-upsThis position will be based out of our Nieuw-Vennep office with flexibility for working from home.
