This role is Santa Barbara, CA based and is eligible for relocation.What You’ll Do:The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for:Designing for various manufacturing processes and architecture of complex product parts/subassemblies with minimal supervision.Be part of the ME team and collaborate cross-functionally with Industrial Design, Electrical, Antenna/Radio, Audio/Acoustics, and other engineering teams as well as external development partners.Use engineering structural and tolerance analysis skills to ensure quality of deliverables.In the course of this work, you are expected to exemplify Sonos behaviors of Respect, Collaboration, Ownership, and Transparency.  Sonos believes that listening is essential to human progress, culture and happiness.  Come help realize this belief by creating great sound through premium design.What You’ll Need:Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don't apply for roles if they don't meet all the criteria. If you don’t have 100% of the skills listed, we strongly encourage you to apply if interested.Basic Qualifications:2+ years experience in mechanical design and significant experience designing for mass production.Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degreeExperience collaborating cross functionally with Industrial Design, Electrical, and other engineering groupsExperience in material selection and design for plastic, metal and elastomeric partsSolid understanding of manufacturing processes including injection molding, die-casting, stamping, thermoforming, machining, finishing/decorating etc.3D modeling skills (experienced with 2D spec generation and/or ability to guide draftsperson in this work)Weekly office presence in Santa Barbara, approx. 3 days per week Willing to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 10-15%​​​Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Siemens NXMechanical design of consumer electronicsExperience designing for both indoor and outdoor applicationsExperience working with overseas contract manufacturers and directing activities during prototype builds, including process and fixture definitionUnderstanding of product quality metrics and methods including GD&T, DFMEA, Statistical Process Control (SPC).   We consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may cause compensation to vary depending on your skills, experience and qualifications.  This job is also eligible for discretionary bonuses as well as an opportunity to become a Sonos shareholder because all full time employees are eligible for stock grants.  The minimum base pay may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions.
