The position requires interdisciplinary knowledge and expertise, which the team applies to solving system-level challenges. Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, materials, thermal, manufacturing, and testing process skills are all applicable. Potential future areas of focus include developing low and high pressure gas systems, liquid handling systems, LED lighting systems, atmospheric composition control, environmental sensors, and biological support systems in spaceflight.Immediate job responsibilities include requirements development, creating conceptual and detailed designs, analysis, interfacing with other design teams and disciplines, prototyping and testing, communicating with suppliers and procurement, and participating in technical reviews (design, test readiness, manufacturing readiness, etc.) with customers. Additional responsibilities include supporting internal manufacturing, test, and verification teams.
