As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. The avionics consists of both Command & Data Handling (C&DH) hardware, Navigation sensors, and network hardware for both orbit and atmospheric flight.Must-haves:Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and typically 3+ or more years of relevant experience.Relevant work experience may substitute for required education.Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practicesSome experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teamsSome experience conducting trade studies (identifying multiple options, assessing and comparing risks/advantages related to technical/cost/schedule)Some knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principlesAn ideal candidate would have experience with high performance aircraft, launch vehicle or spacecraft avionics.Experience in command and data handling (C&DH) and/or power systemsBe comfortable supporting technical meetings and reviewsPreferred:Experience may take the form of new development, modifications, integration, verification or testing of hardware, or system integration in a custom/COTS environment Exposure to HW/SW interaction, verification or validation efforts.A working knowledge of digital data bus architectures (ex: MIL-STD-1553B, Ethernet, SpaceWire, RS-422, RS-485) Design and integration experience with complex electro-mechanical systems or instrumentation Experience supporting procurement by identifying vendors and maintaining impeccable vendor relationships throughout life cycleExperience supporting subsystem checkout during the engineering phase by authoring test plans and procedures for verifying operation of subsystem and components Experience authoring test plans and procedures for verifying operation of subsystem and components during Integration and Test.
