Sierra Space Launch Vehicle Integration (LVI) organization’s Mission Integrator is responsible for generating and verifying the interface requirements between our Spacecraft and the Launch Vehicle (LV). The LVI team is looking for an experienced engineer to support integration activities between the spacecraft and multiple launch vehicles, including the Vulcan, H3, New Glenn, Falcon Heavy, Starship Super Heavy, Neutron, Terran R, and Ariane 6.Essential Functions Include:Understanding a variety of engineering disciplines necessary to provide coordination between Sierra Space and the LV contractor design teams in support of the development of environmental (shock, vibration, acoustic), thermal, venting, gas velocity impingement, contamination, mechanical/electrical ground support equipment, mission design, and mechanical/electrical flight interface requirements between the Dream Chaser Spacecraft and LV/launch site.Coordinating the distribution and configuration management of integrated system analyses inputs/outputs in a diverse set of technical areas including dynamic environments, control dynamics, structural dynamics, aerophysics, thermal, avionics (electrical, EMC/EMI, RF), mechanical, and trajectory and performance.Generation of the LV statement of work Interface Requirements Document (IRD) and Interface Control Document (ICD) between the Spacecraft and LV.Supporting requirement allocation/flowdown to the LV system from the Spacecraft functional areas, and down to various Spacecraft subsystem design specs from the LV system.Negotiating LV interface requirements that affect Spacecraft design with the impacted Dream Chaser functional team, and developing optimal system-level solutions to any requirement incompatibilities which arise.Supporting development of test plans and test execution for risk reduction, and requirement verification of Spacecraft and LV hardware interfaces.Developing IRD/ICD requirement verifications and closure plan that meets SNC and customer expectations.Manage closure plans and verification evidence for each ICD requirement allocated to the Dream Chaser Cargo System.Planning and execution of technical reviews (e.g. working group meetings, chairing technical interface meetings, design reviews, internal review boards) for both SNC internally and between SNC and the LV contractor.Generating input to and presenting launch systems status at monthly and quarterly program status reviews with SNC’s customer and SNC management.Authoring technical and engineering memos as required.Education/Experience: Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical background preferred12+ years of experience in aerospace Spacecraft/LV design or launch operationsExperience with SC to LV integration and requirement development/verificationExperience reviewing Mechanical/Structural design drawings for requirement complianceStrong written and verbal communication skillsMust be comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people at various levelsWell organized and detail-orientedAbility to decompose large complicated problems into manageable pieces, understand problems from different points of view, and explain issues/solutions to other engineers and managementSelf-starter with an ability to quickly reach a level where minimal supervision and direction are required Desired:Experience with generation, verification, and management of requirements on space programsExperience using DOORS Database for requirement development and verification IMPORTANT NOTICE:To conform to U.S. Government international trade regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce.With 30+ years of proven spaceflight heritage, Sierra Space has provided more than 4,000 space systems, subsystems and components to customers worldwide, and participated in more than 500 missions to space, including to Mars.
