In the Mission Engineering role, you will develop and analyze the concept of operations, flow down requirements and interface with subsystems and other segments of small satellite programs You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. The Systems Mission Engineer will be responsible for performing modeling, simulation and operational analysis of spacecraft/space systems to support mission-performance evaluations, architecture/CONOPs derivations, and support requirements derivation. You will build tools and perform analyses of various architectures that include space vehicles, satellites, sensors, communications, and ground infrastructure; evolving or creating new approaches based on analysis results. You will also evaluate the mission effectiveness of the candidate approaches, balancing mission objectives against factors such as development and lifecycle costs.The successful candidate will be required to help define and execute mission analysis studies using industry standard modeling and simulation tools and develop novel modeling & simulation tools when necessary. The Space Mission Design Engineer will employ strong technical, analytical and creative skills to visualize, evaluate, disseminate and iterate on mission analysis results to support overall system development.Sierra Space, based in Louisville, Colorado with operations in Madison, Wisconsin, Durham, North Carolina, and Kennedy Space Center, Florida, designs and manufactures advanced spacecraft, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers and international organizations.
