These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems to orbital and space exploration systems. Your technical duties will include the design and development of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.The Dream Chaser program is specifically seeking engineers with experience in propulsion fluid system development. Experience with aerospace certified valves, filters, and instrumentation along with common propellants is of particular interest. This position will work with the larger propulsion system team to develop feed system architectures, component requirements, work with internal and external suppliers and support their integration, testing, and operation on uncrewed and crewed Dream Chaser spacecraft.Must-haves:• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience• Relevant work experience may substitute for required education• Understanding of engineering principles and practices• Experience with aerospace fluid systems and/or components• Familiarity with working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams• Demonstrated history of successfully developing propulsion components with cradle-to-grave ownership.• Understanding of Engineering Simulation such as Finite Element structural analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis• Strong communication skills, and ability to write work instructions and process plans• Experience testing propulsion valves using in-house resources.• Knowledge of valve assembly procedures, including press fits, clearance checks, structural proofing, and leak checks• Experience and knowledge with and of common sensors and instrumentation (Transducers, RTDs, etc.)Preferred:• Experience applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5• Understanding of Engineering Simulation such as Finite Element structural analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry• Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes• Experience with CAD software (NX preferred)• Experience with CNC machining/Additive Manufacturing• The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required Learn more about the background check process for Security Clearances IMPORTANT NOTICE: To conform to U.S. Government international trade regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce.
