Sierra Space in Madison, WI, is looking for a talented and energetic Electrical Engineer to be a part of our growing electrical engineering team.Sierra Space, based in Louisville, Colorado with operations in Madison, Wisconsin, Durham, North Carolina, and Kennedy Space Center, Florida, designs and manufactures advanced spacecraft, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers and international organizations. Learn more about Sierra Space Initial tasks include analog and digital based implementations of closed loop control systems, open loop electro-mechanical systems, motor drive and control, LED lighting systems, data acquisition and control, communications, telemetry and health monitoring, and power management systems for Sierra Space’s plant growth and logistics payloads and systems for ISS. Other applications include pressure control systems, fluid control systems, thermal control systems, LED lighting systems, data acquisition and control, and supporting the development of hardware associated with environmental and thermal control for spacecraft and space-based habitats. In this position you will be responsible for contributing to conceptual designs, schematics, developing detailed designs, and interfacing with other design teams (mechanical, software, systems). In addition to design tasks, you will be responsible for requirements compliance, proper documentation, and providing support to internal manufacturing and test teams. You will also provide other electrical engineering support as necessary, including requirements development, communicating with suppliers and procurement, and participating in technical reviews (design, test readiness, manufacturing readiness, etc.) with design teams and customers. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, the ability to function independently in a technically demanding environment, and a willingness to work with a diverse team of engineers, technicians, and support staff.Must-haves: Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experienceDemonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practicesUnderstanding of Computer Aided Engineering toolsExperience working in multi-disciplinary design & development teamsPreferred: Exposure to simulations through functional and logical models and system analysisExperience in related fields, such as Aerospace and Defense, medical, manufacturing, or design, or Knowledge of interface and design documentation such as Functional block diagramsExperience with analog and digital electronicsExperience with electronic design and analysis tools, such as Altium Designer and LTSpiceHands-on familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, etc.Exposure to Electrical Load Analysis (ELA),  circuit modeling, simulation, and analysisKnowledge of industry-standard electrical design principles, to include, but not limited to model-based definition, electrical component selection, manufacturing, and production processesFamiliar with Electro Magnetic Effects (EME) to include, Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI)Exposure or experience in digital or analog circuit design and schematic captureUnderstanding of the printed circuit board layout process and toolsExposure to wiring harness and cable designExposure or familiarity with implementing controls, sensor interfaces, data acquisition, and telemetry in analog and digital-based solutions and embedded systemsThe ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required.
