Learn more about IAS The Ground Segment Lead will be responsible for leading a diverse team of engineers to develop operational ground capabilities to for National Security space programs within the National Security Solutions (NSS) sector of Sierra Space. The Ground Segment Lead will have oversight and responsibility of cost, schedule and technical planning and execution for all Ground Segment scope. The Ground Segment Lead will be responsible for design, development and integration of ground command and control software, hardware, facilities and required infrastructure to support NSS missions and platforms. The Ground Segment Lead will act as both technical and project leader within NSS for the Ground Segment scope. Job duties will include:Setting Ground Segment strategies and vision in alignment with program cost and schedule targets.Performing project planning and ensuring quality execution of work for the Ground Segment team.Acting as the Ground Segment focal point for internal, supplier and customer leadership.Building key relationships and interfaces with ground platform, infrastructure and service providers.Providing technical expertise and mentorship while hiring, training, and managing a team of 10-20 engineers for novel systems development efforts.Delivering on key developmental milestones for an ambitious and exciting timetable of events in the National Security sector.Must-haves:Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or related technical discipline with 10+ years of experience in Aerospace ground systems development.Progressive technical leadership experience, including typically 5 or more years of experience in a technical leadership role.Demonstrated technical expertise in ground control hardware and software design for space mission applications.Familiarity with modern C3 (Command, Control and Communications) infrastructure for space systems, including Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Antenna-as-a-Service (AaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), especially those that leverage DoD infrastructure, such as SCN and GC3.Experience in technical project cost estimation, writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs), Cost or Control Account Management (CAM), with thorough understanding and expertise of Earned Value Management (EVMS).Experience developing formal documentation for technical and contractual needs, such as technical reports and specifications, configuration documents and statements of work.Demonstrated ability to work and communicate seamlessly with management, technical engineers, customers and subcontractor stakeholders.Superb presentation skills with presentation experience to senior decision making and technical audiences.Mastery of the ability to manage complex situations, delegate authority, lead and inspire your team, drive innovative thinking, instill collaboration, drive for success, challenge status quo, and demonstrate the ability to adapt to dynamic situationsBackground in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.An active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility requiredPreferred:Master’s degree or higher in related field of study.Experience across all phases of the prime-item development lifecycle, from capture through design, implementation and test.Experience planning and managing to discrete task Integrated Master Schedules with resource loading.Experience in Space Systems mission and/or support operations, especially in National Security applications.Thorough knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices, including systems design, technical baseline management, systems integration, technical risk management, Verification and Validation (V&V), and system certification.Familiarity with Requirements Management and Model Based Systems Engineering tools, such as DOORS, CAMEO EA, Rhapsody, Matlab and SysML.IMPORTANT NOTICE:This position requires current/active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance.
