The Sr. Payroll Analyst reports to the Payroll Manager and performs a wide variety of recordkeeping and payroll processing activities, analyzing and interpreting payroll data. Assists in timesheet audits and responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll. Develop and implement new payroll policies and procedures. Handles and processes employee relocation moving reimbursements according to policy.Sierra Space, based in Louisville, Colorado with operations in Madison, Wisconsin, Durham, North Carolina, and Kennedy Space Center, Florida, designs and manufactures advanced spacecraft, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers and international organizations. Learn more about Sierra Space Primary Responsibilities Include:Analyze and interpret payroll data and provide recommendationsDevelop and implement new payroll policies and procedures that are compliant will all regulations to streamline our payroll duties.Organize and audit weekly contract labor and semi-monthly payroll for 2000 employees.Review payroll audit reports for accuracy Audit data integrity between our various payroll systemsPerform timesheet audits weekly and semi-monthlyAssist with external and internal audit requests for payroll and tax Work with Payroll Manager to implement now processes and procedures Troubleshoot errors when processing MO’s, labor adjustments, payrolls  Provide support for special ad-hoc projects as directedMust Haves:High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and typically 3 or more years of relevant experience Higher education may substitute for relevant experience Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education Working knowledge of payroll reporting policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and applicable regulations, including understanding of Fair Labor Standards Act, Federal and State laws relating to payroll taxes, and various state employment and pay requirements. Progressive experience analyzing, auditing, reconciling and resolving complex payroll processing and employee payroll issues to ensure smooth payroll processing. Ability to research and interpret applicable regulatory requirements and resolve tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues for payroll processing Progressive Microsoft Excel data analysis experience including Pivot tables, macros, etc Experience with Automated Accounting Systems, preferably Costpoint and/or SAP Ability to work independently on assigned projects Consistently strives to improve processes and gain efficiencies, including participation in the testing of new accounting and other system functionalities Analytical abilities, time management, organizational and communication skills are essential Preferred: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or pursuing Knowledge of GAAP and basic accounting procedures Working knowledge of FAR and CAS Excellent administrative skills as demonstrated by experience with a Payroll / HRIS administration system. Ability to problem solve - applying originality, creativity, and initiative Strong skills to plan, organize, multi-task, prioritize, and execute assigned workload to meet multiple deadlines Detail-oriented, without losing sight of the big picture Able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required Learn more about the background check process for Security ClearancesIMPORTANT NOTICE: To conform to U.S. Government international trade regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce. With 30+ years of proven spaceflight heritage, Sierra Space has provided more than 4,000 space systems, subsystems and components to customers worldwide, and participated in more than 500 missions to space, including to Mars.
