Sierra Space is seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS) Installation Design Engineer to join our expanding team working across multiple space program. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team designing EWIS solutions for the three sectors within Sierra Space; The Transportation team are developing the new Dream Chaser product, the Destinations team are developing space habitats and the Applications team develop satellites, probes, and space systems. As a member of the EWIS team the successful candidate will be part of the team that integrates every other system into the space vehicle, habitat, or system from an electrical perspective. There are multiple concurrent programs at Sierra Space, and we ensure that all members of the EWIS team participate across multiple programs to broaden their knowledge base through new experiences. A successful candidate shall be familiar with Siemens NX Electrical Installation suite of tools with an understanding of generating and maintaining 3D wire harness installation models, Electrical library parts, basic and the ability to bridge data from Capital Harness. The candidate shall be capable of demonstrating an understanding of Military and Commercial aerospace parts, and the application of EWIS components to ensure the designs meet the requirements. It is desired that candidates shall also possess an understanding of common industry best practices for EWIS design and installation with the ability to support in-house and external harness manufacturing. It is desired that candidates can support the Final Assembly Line to aid with EWIS installations and troubleshooting. Understanding of EWIS requirements, processes, and methodologies Understanding of EWIS components and their applications Understanding of EWIS industry standards (AS50881, AC 43.13-1B, EIA-364, DO-160, 25.1701 and IPC620) Understanding of EMI/EMC and wire harness channelization Understanding of the Validation and Verification process Ability to learn and desire to receive mentorship from experienced team members Working knowledge of MS Office suite Great interpersonal skills with the desire to learn and the ability to take direction.
