We are a team of strong developers who support each other and challenge each other's ideas to build the best possible applications and help each other grow.Within Workday Payroll, the Payroll Core team owns the common foundation for how Workday calculates paychecks in different countries. Specifically, we:- handle the flow of data from other parts of the Workday system, such as Compensation, Absence, and Time Tracking- support data entry into payroll, such as bonuses and adjustments- build functionality for customers to audit their own payroll- enable reporting and integrations with payroll data through APIs and web servicesAbout the RoleAs a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in an agile, multidisciplinary team to deliver critical features for Workday’s payroll product. You will design solutions to facilitate complex business transactions within thousands of client companies. You will guide your peers in writing robust, efficient and maintainable code and automated tests using a variety of languages and technologies. These include Workday XpressO and YP, our in-house languages that allow us to build business applications quickly, plus Java and JavaScript. You will share technical ideas with a broad spectrum of audiences, and you will mentor team members by setting the example as an effective technical lead and inspiring them to stretch and grow.About YouBasic Qualifications8+ years of experience developing web applications and/or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products as part of a multi-functional team8+ years of experience with object-oriented design principles, including experience in an object-oriented language such as Java, C#, etc. and in UML modeling4-year degree in computer science or equivalent experienceOther QualificationsExperience developing complex enterprise applicationsExperience in design and analysis of software for performance and scalabilityExperience writing reliable, performant, and maintainable unit and system testsDemonstrated ability to triage and resolve production issuesExperience presenting to technical and non-technical audiencesHas led several development projects from inception to deliveryExperience with integrations technologies, such as SOAP and REST APIsKnowledge of payroll and human resources (HR) systems a plusExperience mentoring other engineers and giving feedback to peers in code reviewsAs a federal contractor, Workday is requiring all new hires to verify that they are fully-vaccinated against COVID-19 within 72 hours of beginning employment with Workday, consistent with applicable law. Workday is an equal opportunity employer.
