Team's main focuses is to maintain 100% uptime for the databases to make sure that our customers can access their data. An active dedication to inclusion, belonging and equityAbout the RoleAs we continue to grow Workday is looking to hire a Senior Database Administrator to join Workday’s Adaptive Planning team specifically in their Cloud Operations. As a Database Administrator, Cloud Operations, you will be owning the support and uptime of mission-critcal Oracle and Aurora PostgreSQL database applications and services. You will be challenged with everything from configuration, performance, security, automation, backup, restore, observability and more. A key ingredient for success in this role is a high focus on automation, high availability and end-to-end optimization of the database stack. You must be adaptable, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.ResponsibilitiesDeploy and administer 24x7 Oracle and Aurora PostgreSQL Database on Cloud infrastructure with a focus on the performance, high availability and scalability.Collaborate with development, architecture, and release teams, providing architectural design recommendations, driving standards for effective transition to Aurora PostgreSQL.Administration of Aurora PostgreSQL databases throughout the development and production lifecycles.Install, monitor and maintain Oracle and Aurora PostgreSQL, implement monitoring and alerting, implemented backup and recovery processes, provide system and SQL performance tuning.Develop and maintain database monitoring tools and automation systems.Conduct planning, cost analysis and vendor assessments for database technologies and platforms.Lead database replication, backups and be the point of contact for any recovery situations on our Cloud Database (Oracle and Aurora PostgreSQL) Infrastructure.Implement automated methods and industry standard processes for consistent installation and configuration of PostgreSQL for production and non-production environmentsParticipate in on-call monitoring response: 1 week primary, 1 week secondary, 3 weeks of no on-call.About YouBasic Qualifications:5+ years of Database Administration experience working with Oracle and Aurora PostgreSQL in a multi data center environment with support for high availability and disaster recovery2+ years of experience setting up and running Oracle, Aurora PostgreSQL on AWS EC2 Virtual Server and Experience in other AWS services like S3, Route 53, EBS volumes etc.2+ years of experience in automation using Terraform and experience in Python/GO/Bash.Detailed understanding of PostgreSQL database server architecture, concepts, features, and high-availability technologiesExperience handling geographically dispersed infrastructure and DR environmentsGood understanding of Cloud Platforms storage performance, memory, and I/O (AWS and GCP)Experience in configuration management tools such as Chef, Jenkins etc.Experience in Docker containers with Kubernetes.Other QualificationsExperience in agile and DevOps methodologies implementation preferred.Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalentAs a federal contractor, Workday is requiring all new hires to verify that they are fully-vaccinated against COVID-19 within 72 hours of beginning employment with Workday, consistent with applicable law. Workday is an equal opportunity employer.
